Warriors,

I'm really trying to expand the amount knowledge I have when it comes to internet marketing and I feel that copywriting is a very important asset to have. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a great copywriting course that's available for first timers?

This has been very helpful to me:

My pet peeve when it comes to copywriting courses is how patchy most of them are. You're left thinking "Great, now how do I put all those ideas and elements together? How do I get from pre-head or headline to P.S.?"

If you want to save yourself a lot of headaches, start out with a course that's very "left-brained," linear, and formulaic. You want it to walk you through every part of a sales letter without leaving huge gaps.

Just looking at this thread and someone mentioned Stephen King's "On Writing" as worth a read. I'd second that...easy to read and he makes some fine points. One point that he makes is that he writes everyday and makes it like going to work...he gets in the office at the same time each morning and works until it's time to go home. The only way to become a good writer is to write everyday...and when you're not writing, read what other people are writing....extreme, maybe, but he's a master of the craft.

Cashvertising by Drew Eric Whitman is a good book and a lot less than some of the courses available. It's an instructive book and he does everything that he preaches in the book in it...so you can see examples of what he means just by reading it.

Even so, as much as it's a good book, you won't learn much by reading...you have to do it. I think that's the problem with most people doing courses. you don't just become a copywriter because you've done a course....it's a craft that needs to be honed by constant doing. Unless you do it for a job, it's unlikely that you'll get really good at it imo.
