Why is PayPal S***** customers?

Hi, just completed an online survey with PayPal after having to pay almost $40 out of my own pocket, for a chargeback!

I was dead honest, in the survey, which wasn't pretty, basically giving a zero for recommending their service to others, as well as stating if this continues, l will find another service or pull the product.

I used to be able to press a few buttons and it was sorted, but recently this option didn't work, and l was forced to transfer $25 for the product some a**** paid with someone else's CC, and then pay $10 for some PP fee! Grrrrrrr!

I don't know if this happened becuase the affiliate, (which l have blocked) gave me 3 sales or chargebacks, or it is just some new harsh rule they have bought in, (they keep updating their rules so often, it is hard to keep up) but l will have to consider other options instead of PP if l get slugged again!

Has anyone else had this happen to them or had it happen a few times, and what other options do l have, or the next best thing instead of PP, (without the chargeback, nightmare)?

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

That's frustrating, but it goes to show you that knowing who is selling your product is detrimental to your business. If you are going to have "affiliates" sell your product, make sure you know them and they have a good reputation, and experience in selling whatever it is that your selling.

Really, what does a chargeback from criminal affiliates have to do with Paypal? The credit card company does the chargeback and rightfully so, since it was most likely a stolen credit card number.

Don't approve affiliates you don't know and put them on delayed commission only and that will eliminate crooked affiliates.

If you want to avoid chargebacks change YOUR affiliate
    approval process.

You can change to 2Checkout, Clickbank and any other
processor. BUT, if you approve any and all affiliates you
    will still get chargebacks.

It's not an exclusive to Paypal problem, it's a vendor based
    problem.

Thanks, guys, l know that it is part of affiliate sales that some try to screw you.

And limiting their actions is fine, but you will still get one dodgy chargeback before you know?

Possibly restricting any new affiliates sales to the lower end $5 sale only may be one option, and allowing people who haven't had a dodgy sale unrestricted affiliate access to the lot?

But it isn't really the chargebacks that p**** me off but how PP is handling it.

In the past l would click a few buttons and the unknowing customer gets his money back that was temporaly in my account or a holding account?

The a**** crook unfortunately gets a free copy, and l get to restrict another affiliate with a list of crooks, that like Giraffe sites!

But last one, there was no way to fix it quickly except be out of pocket, then get slugged another $10 for some BS fee!

Hopefully the phantom CC payment may clear what l had to cough up, but it doesn't look likely. It seems that the more changes they make the more the seller suffers!

Hopefully my survey will make the dumba*** CEO, who made this harsh change think twice, time will tell.

    Might even get a refund????

I am hoping that this only happened because the same affiliate screwed me three times.

But if not and it will happen every time, then l will at least have to check all my affil, against chargebacks and restrict the ones with one mark against them with a leg, sale, and ban the ones with dodgy sales only!

    Look at it this way;

    1- You give me a $20.00 cheque/CC for payment.
    2 I deposit it.
3 It bounces faster than a fastball in a ballgame.
4 My bank charges me $20.00 service charge, and returns it to your bank.
5 Your bank now charges you $20.00 service charge. total $40.00 plus your time.

Now If I am correct you may be able to charge him $20.00 or want you think is fair, plus the charges that the banks have charged you for the Bad CC/NSF cheque.

You will need to find that out.

If it was stolen well say good bye to it, and carry on.

    I am not a lawyer/accountant at all.
We have our own business and have done it legally, thru the proper channels
Check out your rules and laws require in this.

It is NOT PAY PAL fault that this has happened/nor/YOURS.

It is man kind that thinks (put your own words here).

Those figures mentioned earlier are with in reason.
We have seen higher figures also, up to $250.00 at times.

Most merchant banks are going to charge $20-$30.
Hmmmm, Graphicriver, "$O" at least at the moment, hopefully they won't go downhill like the ones above and PP?

True it isn't their fault, but how they deal with it is.

Or more importantly how they deal with it now!

True my $40 is probably gone for good, but l will at least have to restrict and deny my affiliates if it happens again!
