so im writing an ebook / information / help.... that i am very enthusiastic about , i have high hopes for it ,,, currently at 30 pages and just over 8000 words .... pictures , links ,video included ,usual stuff

my question is throughout it i am mentioning products that will be very handy (must buys) and more importantly should sell ...
Cn i just create a site that looks like any other website thats selling things and just put affiliate amazon links to the products???? its hard to explain , i envision a page that has the picture and description of the item (like 20 on a page) but they are all affiliate links

i hope this makes sense

You'll need to give us a little more information about how you see the ebook being monetized.

If I understand correctly, your approach is to give the ebook away in the hopes it will drive traffic to your amazon links?

You have the choice of going directly to Amazon or hitting an intermediate page (yours) first. Presumably you already have the ebook customer on your list - correct? They will opt-in to get your ebook? if not, then you want to first give them an incentive to get them on a list.

Next, you want to offer them value - this may be a video on the amazon product that you share tips, review, etc... which then links to amazon product.

Or, you can send them to an amazon review site you have.

Pretty important to know what the purpose and what role your ebook will play in your overall monetization strategy.

thanks for answering my question jeff ..

the ebook is for sale , not a give away to entice

i truly believe i am creating a very marketable book that will sell ......the links on a web site will be in conjunction with the book..... people who read the book because of the subject and the items mentioned --- they should go to the site (or at least look!) maybe buy

the way i am thinking is i will then have 2 potential forms of revenue

You are trying to sell a book in which you mention/recommend other products for people to buy. And then you are expecting people to go to your website, click on the affiliate links to purchase these product that you mention in your paid ebook.

      Did I understand it correctly?

I'm assuming there would be actual useful information in the ebook about how/why to use each product to solve a problem. And, this could actually have value for the potential customer. Why don't you just link directly to the Amazon product page or affiliate sales page for that product rather than having the reader click through to your own site? Once they click through they might not want to click through again. The ebook is doing the preselling job, don't lose out on the opportunity to cash in on that sale.

Call it a "Recommended Resources" page and add it to the website. No biggie.

But you might find you get better conversions if you just put your affiliate link straight in the ebook for each individual product. Try to give it a bit of background as to why you recommend it.

E.g. This is <affiliate link>the kennel I recommend for toy poodles</affiliate link>. The real benefit of this kennel is that both the elevation and door size are perfect for toy and most miniature poodles. You might find similar products, but this is the one I've found to be the best value for money.

You could also set up redirects from your website. E.g. toypoodles.com/topkennel as opposed to the affiliate link for tracking purposes.

And don't forget to ask them to subscribe to your email list at the end of the ebook. E.g. To stay up to date with all my latest tips on training toy poodles, be sure to subscribe to my newsletter here [insert url].

thanks mate ... i think your initial suggestion of the affiliate link straight in the book with description would be good!
All the links will be high quality and not a book full of spam links .... a chapter at the end of the book called Recommended Resources.

i was also already planning an opt in /newsletter.

Why would person go through your catalog of products with your links to Amazon instead of just going to Amazon and browsing there?

      It just sounds unnecessarily complicated.

Maybe what you are visualizing and what I visualized reading your description are two very different things, but if I picked up ebook that I had to pay for and saw nothing but ton of affiliate links and links to website with nothing but ton more affiliate links, I would definitely leave a detailed negative review, then try to get my money back, and then depending on my mood look up persons social media and leave few more comments.
