Question on Affiliate Marketing Tracking

Hello,

This is my first post here, I've lurked before and am just getting started with affiliate marketing.

I'm setting up a website that uses reviews to generate affiliate sales. I plan to join some big networks (amazon, ebay, etc.) but am running into an issue.

I need to be able to track the exact amount of money each different category in our website is converting for us. Do the big networks enable us to have different "identities" to our links on our site so we can tell which links are converting the most money for us or do they lump everything together into a gross amount for the site?

For example, can we program our links to tell us that out of the $300 I've earned from Amazon, $200 came from category "A", $75 came from "B", and $25 came from "C"?

Here's another way to do it. At least for Amazon.

This will actually tell you how much you've earned exactly, rather than seeing how many accessed the link and disappeared from your site to Amazon.

What you do is create unique IDs within the same Amazon Associate account. Each ID could be for the respective section or category.
1. After logging into your Amazon Associates Central, look in the upper left corner. There you will see your main ID.
2. Click on Manage.
3. Then click on Add Tracking ID.
4. Set up individual tracking IDs.
This is what I used across multiple sites, but in your case it'll work well too.

google analytics is the way and answer for you but for related monitoring you can also do use of statcounter as well ..

Google Analytics will only track so far, and it would not show earnings. Use it along with the Amazon tracking ID that I mentioned above and you'll be good to go, at least for Amazon.

Maybe Ebay has something similar?

Most platforms have built in tracking ...

I would worry about getting sales first and then start worrying about tracking
