Any Suggestions on best use for my domain?

Hi Everyone.. I'm new to the forum and first time poster.

I have a domain: JobCreator.com, I've had it for awhile now and I'm trying to decide what could be the best use for this domain.. Personally I've always thought it was a decent domain name with some great potential if it's done right.

Does anyone have thoughts or ideas about what would be the best type of biz to try to startup with this domain?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you had this name since around May of 2008? I see where it sold for $3600 back then. If you recently acquired this domain you may want to try and just sell it.

My next suggestion would to put up a job board where people could apply for jobs and post resumes.

Hi.. Yes I've had the domain since around 2008.

The thought of a job board has crossed my mind but I would need to find a script or something like that.

      Thanks for your reply!

        IronFist,

To me at least, a job board isn't really what the domain name implies. If your domain were "joblister" then that would be appropriate.

To me, the best match for the name "jobcreator" would be a product or service that teaches how to (obviously) create a job.

It might be a product that shows people how to craft or find their ultimate dream job.

Or it could be about how to leave the corporate world and become a consultant or other one-man show.

Or it could be a site selling a product that shows entrepreneurs how to start a solo business in a niche that the person loves.

The possibilities are endless and I think you have a fine domain name - short and descriptive.

        Good luck,

        Steve

          It's a great domain name.

Think of what someone putting "job creator" into Google is looking for. That does seem to imply some sort of product or means of creating a job, not finding a job.

I agree with Steve that marketing to entrepreneurs might be the best way to go.

Thanks for the input.. Your raised some Really Great Points! It's been tough to decide.. I haven't just thrown up any old website bc I don't want to ruin the domain by putting a bunch of crap up on the first time around.

Ideally I'd like to put up one site and brand the name.. It's just so hard to figure out which way to go to make it successful and generate traffic/revenue.

One other thought that came to mind.. Was like a Elance type of site where people post projects and other people bid on it.. Hence the name: JobCreator.. people creating jobs.

But I definitely like both of you guys that marketing to Entrepeneurs could be very targeted and lucrative

            Here's an idea:

Have an app developed that takes the visitor through a short quiz. Maybe a personality test first, and then a short survey that lets them describe aspects of their ideal job. At the end it can list jobs that meet both the personality criteria and the job criteria.

In this way the user is engaged, and so the "creator" aspect is covered, yet you end up with a job board.

Do a good job and you'll get some decent feedback. Then you can create some copy about how it's the best job to employee match-maker on the Web, based on n personality points. After that, you can create an opt-in. Make the service free but build a list.

I just thought of something based on what you just said. Maybe the landing page could have a questionaire just like you said.. but based on their answers to the questions the site would propose a different wealth building or Entrepeneurial product they could buy based on their answer.. Just a thought

If it's pre-qualified traffic--meaning they've come there specifically to buy a product about entrepreneurship--that could work.

                  IronFist,

Before you make your final decision about the site and what you'll put on it, make sure you do some niche research into the job creating market.

Don't think of a product or site platform first.

If I were you, I would search to find a particular sub-niche that seems to have lots of audience (prospects) with money that are willing to spend on products and services.

I would position my business to be a little different than everyone else. You want to differentiate what you do so you can brand yourself as unique and one-of-a-kind, if possible. Then direct comparisons with other sites are not really valid.

This approach can take some work, but doing so will allow you to then find solutions (products or services) that exactly match what your intended audience is look for. The idea is that you don't want to create desire for a product . . . rather, you want to find a need or want and provide a solution.

Doing it this way means you don't have to try to convince somebody to make a purchase - they are already looking for what you're going to offer.

                  Good luck to you,

                  Steve

Thanks for the ideas and taking the time to put some thought into this. Just recently I decided I need to get off my ass and do something with this domain. I've always thought the domain name has a lot of potential and if done right it's highly brandable.. But it has to make sense! It drives me crazy thinking about the right direction to take!

What intentions did you have the with domain name when you initially bought it? You'd be going up against "Monster", "Careerbuilder", "Dice", "Indeed", "Snagajob", and etc. You may have to turn it into a niche job site... like only use it for people interested in getting a job working in an orthodontist office (or whatever).

I would create some sort of site that helps people further their careers through education or technical training. Job board of some sort would work well to.

I would not use a generic script for a job board. Pay a programmer and make your site unique.
