Ezine Articles Set and Forget?

Since using Ezine Articles, and that I have been using them since the beginning I've noticed that they are pretty much set and forget.

The reasons being that most of time you get featured site wide.. and eventually these site wide links are giving you a vote for popularity and so they should be becuase that's why you get featured..

In turn these popularity votes are gaining you a higher ranking in the SERPS and PR..

So does anyone else beleive the same as me when it comes to Ezine Articles..

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this. But I think you're talking about how at the bottom of each page there is the Recently Published, Most Popular, and Most Published categories.

These can be VERY lucrative if you can get on them. For one like weight loss, it's a little bit more difficult because you're pushed out of the Recently Published category within an hour because there's so many people competing.

But if you go into a category where there's less competition, you have an EXCELLENT chance of staying in Recently Published and eventually moving into Most Popular if you're also getting a good amount of organic search engine traffic.

So in that manner, yes, it can VERY much be set and forget- which is great.

I don't entirely agree. The newer the content the more traffic I get. But leave it a while and although some continues to trickle through, not as much as the initial 2-3 days after posting.

I don't think they're set and forget. I've had a lot more success with articles that I have spent some time getting backlinks to.

Those get ranked in the serps a lot more often than just submitting the article and hoping for the best.

I agree with adamv ... I've had success getting backlinks to some of my articles and watching their position climb.

Angela's links and Paul's links in particular work well for my articles.

Great article, and an excellent point.

If a person is prepared to focus on one keyword phrase, s/he can use article marketing to secure external contextual links and push themselves to page one for that keyword.

That provides a fifth type of traffic that article marketing can deliver, albeit indirectly.

I agree here. In fact, with all of your content that brings in the leads, I use back-linking to keep those articles ranked. Ezine will be good for the initial indexing, but if you keep tweaking your seo every now and then, you will get more bang for your article!

not quite, article marketing takes a daily constant effort unless you take the time to back link your article,, having sites ranked top 3 in Google while list building is set and forget, all though you may have to add more backlinks and and some more follow up series,

anything online is more like a set and baste strategy

I used to upload articles and then forget about them but found that they can just disappear from the search engine indexes after a while, meaning that the work that went into writing them went to waste.

Nowadays I make an effort to promote the articles and have managed to get some of them up to a PR4. It helps to keep them indexed and ranked, plus the PR value trickles down to my site pages helping them to rank better for their targeted keywords.

That's pretty cool, I never bothered to check if my articles had achieved any page rank.

I agree with getting the backlinks to your articles - article marketing is a long term strategy, and for the most part will be relying on decent placement in Google for the keywords... so getting some backlinks helps to secure that placement in Google and thus helping the long term traffic..
