An apology from me + A really useful advice for offline marketers: Automate things & SAVE TIME!

Some days ago i used this main forum to blatantly spam a new site - for this i wanted to apologize, my fault - won't happen again. At that time i thought i was just offering a service, got over-excited about it and forgot about the WF rules. My thread was deleted and it was totally correct to do so.

Why i'm typing this? IMHO, one needs to man up if something went wrong.

So much for that. But here's a COOL tip for all you guys, offering websites to offline clients.
Most small businesses just need a basic site - that's easily achieved with WordPress.
SO: create (or buy) some wp themes, different colors, and set up a WORDPRESS MU (MULTIUSER) site.
Then, find a pontential customer, set up a blog on your WPMU (takes 1 minute) and send out a letter saying: "i created a site for you, have a look at http://YourWPMUdomain/blahh")

This way, you can install a nice looking wordpress site in 1 minute and IMPRESS your potential customer. You can create 20 sites per day and send out 20 direct letters per day.

Cheerz,
Chris.

Never having used WPMU before, I wonder what is the advantage of using WPMU over standard WP?

Yes you can definitely sell word press sites to businesses.

It's a good strategy and well worth doing.

But remember the bottom line is to help businesses make real sales and profits.

That's how you build real value, that's how you charge premium prices and most important of all...that's how you sleep soundly at night.

The offline business model should never be about just putting up sites for businesses.

You have to go way beyond that into helping those businesses make real profits.

It's not hard to get hired by a business owner...the market is wide open at the moment and many business owners are getting desperate and will try nearly anything to get more sales.

It's up to you to have the integrity to make sure that when you work with these businesses you are actually helping them in a real way.

You can use SEO, pay per click, video marketing, article marketing, craigslist ads, websites, ANY internet marketing skill you have but for God's sakes lets do some real marketing and make some real sales for these guys.

      They deserve real help.

      Kindest regards,
      Andrew Cavanagh

My point is, with WPMU you can set up a BASIC site in no time.. and you can show your potential client how it MIGHT look like. of course, that wpmu site won't be the final site, but a 1 click install is quicker than a "create a new account on WHM, create a new sqlDB, upload WP, upload theme, etc.."

Great point Andrew and I'm delighted to see someone else say this.

Give the customer what he wants and give him the money with which to pay you - it doesn't get any easier than that but the way IMers seem determined to simply "take" all the time really distresses me.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more

Do you mean the way some IMers seem determined to simply take all the time?

Not all of them do, and there are MANY, working this "niche" the way in which Andrew describes.

That's a great idea, however it depends on the country you are in. In some developing countries small business still don't get the idea why they need a website, however if you offer them value and a great price, I do believe it should work.

    Hi, Jay,

I suppose I could have added the word 'some' but since I also ommitted the word 'all' it is left to the reader to infer his/her own determination of my meaning - and that will be based upon what their own opinion is. You obviously decided that I meant 'all' - interesting, that.
