Stupid question about link to PDF doc

I have 2 PDF docs out on a server.

When I enter to url to one of them, it returns a "Save As" or "Open With" dialog, which is what I want.

But the other open the PDF in the browser.

I can't for the life of my understand what it making the behavior change...can anyone kick some sense into my skull?

BTW...these are straight URL's, so it's not links that are set to open in new windows, etc.

I could be wrong, but I believe how it opens or saves is per settings on individual computers. Don't see how you can make it "save as", though I think zip files normally do save as.

zip files do behave that way, but neither are zips.

i thought it was controlled locally too, but I'm getting different behavior with both files on the same puter so that can't be the case.

There has to be something different about the links or the files. If they were the same, they would open or save the same.

Do you have the 2 PDF docs on the same EXACT server folder location, or space or root? Try swapping the names over, and see if the phenomena still follows the PDF docs, or if it's something host related (can't think so, but code on servers do have a mind of their own at times!)

Or have others try it, see if they get the same results?
