Information on rights

Since SXC does NOT require a written Model Release for each Image that has identifiable people on it, We cannot guarantee that you will be able to use the Image for any purpose You like. Also, if there is a model release for the Image, We do not represent or make warranties whatsoever as to the legality or validity of it.

Why not take your own photos?

If you have a good quality digital camera, or any camera for that matter, take a weekend out with the partner and kids, and shoot away.

I'll bet that within a 20 or 30 mile radius from your home, office or base, you'll find more than what you need. If you need people in the photo, use family, friends and relatives. Invite them to your photo-shoot party and use a theme if appropriate. Make it fun, but tell them how you will be using the photos.

Oh! forget about the doom merchants (aka failures) who will tell you that if you have photographed something that you don't own or have not had permission to photograph, then the Feds will be coming after you. If that were the case, the entire world film industry would be bankrupt by now! Just about every person that owns a camera too.

So have a go - You'll find it fun and rewarding.

I agree. It is nice being able to get stock pictures for my sites for only a $1.

One WARNING though: The cheapest package is $18 so you have to at least spend that much for your first picture.

Other than that, I would highly recommend iStockPhoto.com.

I set up my first site using images from Istockphoto... and was wondering if the first page would count as using images to endorse products.... Anyone?

Here are a few Free Stock Image Sites that I have used in the past:

They do have some good photos but paid sites typically have a much larger selection.

I like istockphoto.com because its a "Pay As You Go" system so you pretty much only pay for the photos that you use. No monthly fee and images (depending on size) are between $1.00 - $1.50 per.

Hve you tried out google images you can type in the image you are looking for then save it.

Google image library is one of the best place to get some good quality keyword targeted pictures. Google on "advanced image search" you will find some keyword targeted pictures.

If you don't find a good one, then buy from istockphoto.com or fotolia.com
