I have been using Hostgator forever, yet lately they have been extremely unreliable, since they switched their servers. I would ask you to please let me know what your experiences with other providers are and what you would you recommend. I've been thinking about switching to either Bluehost or Arvixe.

Thanks in advance!

I have been on hostgator for a long time. I still have some websites on a shared server there but they are not up to my standards.

I moved important websites to arvixe and they did pretty well. They are new and probably do not have so many websites on the same server. However, last year I switched to a VPS and the best deal I got was at myhosting.com

thanks, you are saving me a ton of research since I want to find the best this time... I don't care if the price is a bit more... as long as servers are fast, that's what I'm after...

My Hostgator experience seems to be completely different to what everyone else is reporting here. They only recently moved my account to new servers and, if anything, access is now faster than I previously recorded.

I very seldom need to contact their customer service, but a few weeks ago I did email them with a question and I received a response within 6 hours.

In view of all the complaints here, several months ago I also opened an account with Scala Hosting, just to test the waters in case I needed to move. Currently I have 3 new websites hosted with them and they are fast and their customer service is responsive and very knowledgeable.

Don't quote me on this but I think Bluehost may be owned by the same company which now own hostgator. There is a list somewhere which notes all of the hosts owned by EIG (i think thats what they are called). I had the same problems and still have some sites there, but anything new or big now goes over to LiquidWeb (no affiliation). I have a VPS with them which works for me and the support is second to none, I think there average support time is around 10 minutes.

LiquidWeb might not be for you but it's worth taking a look. Hope that helps?

I would step up to a vps at liquid web ...
I never have any issues ....
And I run my tracking software along with all of my sites ...
I crashed my shared plan with hostgator many times running PPV

Bluehost is the same as Hostgator .

HostGator = BlueHost = JustHost = HostMonster & 50+ other brands. They're all the same company.

Do yourself a favor and find a smaller company that can treat you as a "customer" and not another "account".

Most people on THIS forum are just going to throw you to the next highest paying affiliate company - somewhere down the line, you've probably clicked their affiliate links though one of their fake review sites.

I'd recommend staying away from any company that claims "unlimited disk space & bandwidth" as there's no such thing.

Cool, that I know... I need alternatives though as I don't have testing time... if you know a good provider, feel free to share. : )

Well, I am a provider, so "I" cannot advertise - however, I've recommended enough of my competitors on this forum.

What types of sites are these?

How much storage space are you currently using?

Bro, just give me a name... I don't care who the provider is, I need a good service and reasonable prices... I have a lot of traffic going to several WP sites (some of them highly popular), an ecommerce site, and a forum.

I use Bluehost for my websites. I have found their support to be good, and also you get a free domain name when you sign up!

I would suggest you to go with Arivxe, Because Bluehost is same owned company which has recently Acquired by EIG.

I have some sites with Arvixe.

They had some serious failures earlier this year, lost a load of my data, took a while to put it back, as they put it in the wrong place.

I know these things happen, but I was more angry with empty promises, and incompitence of restoring things in the wrong folders.

Luckly it wasn't too expensive for the year.

Thanks for sharing your hostgator experience, I see some other posts on this...
