Hi Warriors,

What's your average budget for building a website a about 5 pages?

I have done hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of freelance work so I know a bit about this subject. You cant just go by '5 pages' .. you have to consider any functionality in the pages. Whos doing graphics .. who is doing mockups .. all sorts of things. You will need a full scope / spec sheet prior to giving a flat bid. An alternative is to charge by the hour.

With an in-house staff, we're fortunate to be able to pay very little for a 5 page website. Like brutecky said, it really depends on how involved it is but for something very basic, you can have it up in 3 to 5 hours assuming you've got your images and layout all ready and planned. Just remember, you often get what you pay for so I wouldn't advise hiring the cheapest guy or you'll spend even more time and money fixing things after it's built.

    Hope this helps a little!

brutecky is certainly right. Level of design, functionality and a number of other variables impact pricing... both from production cost and a retail sales price. At a broad level one way to approach pricing is to define three levels of design/development - simple, medium and complex. Production costs are also based on the hours required for each level. In my experience there is a 305 to 40% increase from level to level.

Another option is to develop the site by yourself.
I did this when I developed my game site, and this way I learned website programming.

$0. I do all my web design myself. But then again, i create very simple sites lol. Focus on the essentials of making money online, and you will be okay. Just make sure your site design is simple and easy for your visitor to navigate through.

    I do everything myself.

But if you are looking to get an idea of how much to pay, you should probably post some examples of sites you like in this thread. Depending on what you are shooting for, prices could range from $100 to $10,000+.

Any professional and experienced web designer/develpor won't demand less then $150,
But it also depends on how much content, images ect you want to add in your pages.

Let's be realistic for a second.

Let's say the OP wants to build a 5page "niche" site by doing nothing by himself.

    Domain: $10
Content: 5x1000-2000 word articles which are well written and filling the "gap" in the niche: $600 - $700
Design: Paid WP theme + custom design with logos/banners: $250

I would say $1000 for a decent site, with decent content.
