How can I contact local newspapers? I am not talking about just my area, by all over the country. Is there any service out there which could send my press release/memo to all the newspapers? what's the best way to do this?

Yes, there are services that will blast your press release out all over the country for a fee. Another way to do this is to send them out yourself to individual newspapers. Of course, if you plan on sending out a lot of them, this would be too time-consuming for you to take care of on your own, so the blasting route might be the better choice. Sending them out individually is a good way to go if you'd like to build a relationship with reporters in your region, though. You'll likely have better results this way because they'll get to know you. And if you're sending them good content (not glorified sales letters disguised as press releases), you'll become an authority in that area as far as they're concerned, and you've just increased your chance of them calling you sometime for a quote in another story. To contact local publications, look in their staff box and you should find the name and email address of the editor. Or look online to find a "contact us" page or staff info. Jill |

Here is a list of newspapers state-by-state: United States Newspapers I do not know of a system to get a PR out to all of them, but you could maybe contact some of the bigger papers in the bigger cities then some of the smaller papers might pick it up...for free. Who knows. Good luck! |

Just checked that one and three newspapers in my town were missing. Of course, not every directly web site we see will be 100% complete. Plus, with normal turnover and so many layoffs recently, there's always a chance that even the better directories might not be up-to-date as far as names of staff that you should contact. Another resource -- send your press release directly to the Associated Press -- AP Digital | FAQ | |

You can also do a state search. For example, TN Newspaper Association when Googled will get me the name of the state association which lists ALL state newspapers, as well as contact information. Pete |
