NOOB IN DESPERATE NEED OF A MENTOR'S HELP!

I am a complete noob to ebook creation. I am presently in the process of writing word docs. for an ebook and DESPERATELY need a personal mentor. If you have experience creating ebooks from A to Z who can help guide me so I can get my words into an ebook format that can be purchased online, I would be forever grateful. I have absolutely no knowledge of how to do this and need a mentor who can help me accomplish this. I also need to know how to put clickable links into the ebook once created. Is there anyone on WF with this knowledge who is up for the task of helping a WF, IM noob??? Please PM me or post to my thread here if you are proficient in the above skills and willing to help guide me through this process of ebook creation.

I highly doubt that anyone is going to do this for free. Knowledge is money my friend. I would suggest either you look to find a paid tutor or you just go to Elance or oDesk and outsource the entire writing project.

    Use Google.

    Practice, trial and error, etc.

That's the only way you'll learn for free.

Otherwise, be prepared to fork up a few thousand dollars.

Or outsource it on eLance for about $500 and hope for the best.

All you really need is Microsoft Word or an equivalent. Amazon Kindle let's you upload filtered html.

If creating outside Kindle you can export the doc file to pdf.

Microsoft Word saves in both filtered html and pdf format.

Geesh, we are getting a bit harsh!

But l have to admit l won't show someone step by step, because as others have said, time is money, but....

But l will lay out some general steps to get you started, since l have researched how to do this to death, and believe that l have the best system.

      Ok, first off...

      • Write up the e-book in Microsoft Word, l use 2003.

      • Then on the same computer or preferably another one, install Openoffice, (free installation, just Google it).

      • Then when the Word version is finished, transfer or install Openoffice, (Word processor only) and then click on files. Theres should be a Turn into PDF or something like that.

      • Then stay with no compression, and when it asks for the name put in anything, but DO NOT USE the .doc at the end, it will mess the original Word version up.

So when it ask, l will call it 1.

      • Next find the doc on your desktop, and open it with Foxitreader, (free installation, Google it) and then save it as a PDF.

      • If l remember correctly, when in Foxitreader you have to load the file again then when it appears, and save it as a PDF.

Then the PDF will appear ready to sell, and any links you created in Word will work!

I know that this is a complex way to do it, but l have researched this area to death, and most free or cheap ones, won't transfer the links across.

And l am not going to pay $100 for a commercial PDF converter, when l have this free process, that works well.

Just slowly go through the steps, think it through logically and you should be fine.

It look me a lot of hair pulling and grief to figure this out, but l use it all the time, now.

I also need to say that eventhough you can finish it in Word, and then install Openoffice, it can cause issues with Word over time, that is why l suggest putting Openoffice on another PC and transferring it over to that one for conversion.

      Good luck!
