My Big Twitter problem. Can you help?

Hey guys,

I'm trying to add a button at the end of every blog post I make to have people retweeet my blog posts. Everything is working fine. I have the button added, linked with the message.

Whenever someone clicks on the button, their update box will get filled out with my message and they can just hit the update button. Here's the problem.

I am trying to add 2 different twitter commands. One is the @username and the other one is the #hash tag.

The @username works fine. However, when I add the #hash tag to the message, when I click on the button to test it out, twitter redirects me to their blog as oppose to that person's account.

Does anyone know how to solve the hash tag problem? I want to be able to link back to my profile from their twitter message along with the my keyword.

Also, if you have any other ideas, I would greatly appreciate it.

To use the hash tag (#) you have to put it in the Twitter search box, I think. I've never seen (doesn't mean there isn't one though,) a button for the hash tag.

Thanks for the reply Pete but I think you misunderstood what I'm trying to do here. The button is just an image on my blog. When they click on the image, they are taken to their update box on their profile and their update box gets filled out with my info. For instance,

RT @username check out this article so and so just wrote on #(hash tag here) at http://....

When I add the hash tag # keyword twitter redirects to their blog as oppose to sending my visitor to their profile.

Try URL encoding the '#' sign.

Instead of the '#' replace it with '%23'.

      That works for me.

Great, it worked. Now, I have another question?

What's the next way to use a hash tag for multiple word keyword? Do you put the hash next to each keyword, do you combine the keywords into one word or do you add dashes?

    Thanks,
