Autoresponders with API?

Client uses my software to build paid-to-access membership site and wants every new member to be added to mailing list automatically and notify him about updates and deliver certain perks by email.

Any good hosted autoresponders with API available?

Aweber seems to be shy letting people accessing it's services via API - so i am looking for reliable alternatives.
Forcing people into using manual forms and TOS-ing developers out of automation seriously limits autoresponder's marketability.

Autoresponder features needed via API:
- subscription management - adding/removing members.
- campaign / message creations
- sending
- stats - nice to have.

    Sam at DLGuard chose GetResponse specifically for their API. Check it out...from what Sam's said, they were very flexible and helpful.

    Getresponse API may have a limited number of functions now, but at least they have API. They announced that they will have a new API with much more functions.

    iContact has a set of APIs for integration with your systems. They are about to release version 2.0 as well.

    I can't recommend them enough - they have one of the best and most robust API's out there.

    I use them exclusively because of their API.

    Hi MemberWing,

    You can consider the MailChimp.com autoresponder service. it is very well designed and organized. I've been using it for a year and it works fine. All the Aweber functions are available and there are additional (and very inetresting ones) such as Importing Campaigns Design from Web. )

    what are your thoughts for today? Mail Chimp still on top? I heard Aweber has API services, anyone use it?

    I've heard Mailchimp banned a few people who were in affiliate marketing. This is show stopper no matter the API.
    Aweber on top for now for me.

    Be careful with Mailchimp if you're doing anything affiliate related. From their TOS:
    we do not allow businesses that offer these types of services, products, or content:
