Someone is selling my eBook on fiverr

I found out today that someone is selling my eBook on fiverr without my permission (obviously).

Has anyone had a similar experience? How should I deal with this?

Thanks,

Alex

  • Contact Fiverr customer support. They are typically very responsive and easy to work with. I bet they will have that gig down (and the user banned) within a day.

Just make sure to include proof that you are the owner.

How did the person take it from you? Where did he get it? Did he remove the credits from your e-book? Wasn’t it protected enough? Just talk to Fiverr about it. If you can prove that the e-book is really yours, you will have nothing to worry about. Good luck!

Definitely email the fiverr support asap! And like Michael said, make sure you have proof that the eBook was created by you.

    Good luck!

Email Fiverr this is copyright and if someone is making lots off this you could try and get money off them if not possibly take a lawsuit against them but not recommended.

I think you should use PDF stamper or some short of PDF file protection so that you will be notified when someone will be spreading your Ebook.

I totally agree. You need to protect your works, especially because you are dealing with the virtual community. Everybody can be a thief and look at where your unprotected e-book has gone. You just have to be a bit more careful next time and contact Fiverr as soon as possible.

Personally, I would ask Fiverr for the seller's details and refer the matter to law enforcement. Just such a low act.

I hope there's some case law created for this soon, where someone actually takes legal action and the offender gets the book thrown at them, rather than just DMCA hand outs/customer support requests.

Hopefully this person didn't unknowingly buy this this ebook as PLR from some other jerk. They possibly bought the ebook with PLR rights from a different thief. I'd be inclined to get the particulars before I took any legal actions. But if this person turns out to be a thief take them down. Just my opinion.

Totally. You should consider all the possibilities. You will never know how long your e-book has already been circulating around different websites. Who knows? It may not be the only place where it is being sold. You might, as well, browse through other possible websites or you can just lose your money to the thieves.

I would of course contact Fiverr and explain the situation to them if I were you but honestly, I wouldn't even worry about it and would simply enjoy the FREE publicity.

If the person who ends up buying your eBook likes it and receives quality information, they will end up trying to learn more about you through Google and will BECOME PAYING customers in the future.

Don't simply think about things short-term, think about things long-term.

Hopefully there's some nice affiliate links in there as well.

Contact Fiverr AND contact them. Just by contacting them that should scare them and have them remove it asap! Good luck on this.

First of all you should mention if the ebook came with resale rights. If it didn't, then obviously contact Fiverr and ask them to ban that other person, and also see where else he or she is selling your ebook.

Yea the best thing to do would be to contact fiverr asap and let them know that your product is being sold without permission. And try to password protect your pdf for future references.

Which law enforcement organization would you report it to? The victim's locale? The thief's?

And how seriously do you really think a busy LEO is going to take the complaint, especially when stacked up with the dozens or hundreds of cases waiting in line already?

When my wife had her debit card stolen and used fraudulently, the local case took over four months to work its way to the top of a busy detective's pile.

Siccing the law on the thief is a nice idea, but unlikely to generate much for results. At least the DMCA/C&D/support request is likely to get the thief shut down.

What does that have to do with it? If the person is selling stolen product, they're selling stolen product. If they bought the book from a thief, they should be allowed to keep selling the stolen product?

If I buy a Rolex from a guy in a bar for $50 because he needs the money, and the cops bust me for buying stolen merchandise, do you really think they're going to give me the stolen watch just because I'm not the original thief? I may not go to jail, but there's no way I get the watch or my $50 back.

      Same thing here.
