Anyone out there know anything about fonts in Wordpress? I am typing my posts in ms word and then pating them into the wordpress backpage and it is coming out really messed up. I would understand that i would probably need to type the posts in on the backpage for the spacing etc, to come out right, but do i have to go to my old posts to do that as well? Also, I am using inanis glass theme and i like th eformat but would love to lighten the color a bit. Any help is appreciated!

For best results, do NOT copy/paste straight from Word. It will transfer a bunch of garbage code and mess up your end results.

You can paste the material into the 'html' screen as opposed to the 'visual' side of the post and that will help. Or paste it into Text/Notepad 1st and then paste it into your WP post.

From there if you need to change anything you can adjust the settings in your CSS/Style file accordingly.

I agree with changing the CSS file.. best way to do it. Remember that not all computers will have the same fonts as you so for usability stick to commonly used ones.

You need to edit the font attributes in the CSS file:

If you want to customize wordpress, you should know html, css and PHP.

Also, as the above poster said, don't paste directly from programs like Word, instead open up notepad, paste the text into notepad, and the paste from notepad to Wordpress.

Its an issue with copy/paste. Paste it into notepad first, then copy that text and paste that into wordpress.

I don't know CSS or PHP so Notepad is my best friend. There are many applications where I copy and paste it in there first before putting it in Wordpress, E-mail software and so on. As an FYI, you can also copy tables from the internet by pasting them into Word. So, let's say, you only need the right column of text; you can then select just that column in Word and paste it in Notepad... whereas if you tried to paste the table in Notepad, you would end up with a mess. This litte trick has helped me several times.

Deek just use the Word form that you will find on the tool bar which then strips all the formating and lets your css style sheet do that work for you. Here is a video:

Here is the icon on your tool bar you use.

I just want to add a caution to a couple of comments here. Pasting from word to Notepad doesn't strip all the %#^!ing formatting. At least one thing that sticks through that is the ms smart quotes. These take up about 5 special characters on an html sheet if I then put it on line.

It turns out that one of the characters of the smart quote is invisible and if you try to backspace them out from your control panel, you can only get the last nasty little one by backspacing right up to the word the quote ended at, and then backspace one more time. Instead of that erasing the last letter it will just erase this character and not move, and then you know you've got it.

If you don't get it and combine that with FF not doing a true refresh unless you use ctrl + F5, you can wind up with little black diamond question marks all over your otherwise really nice page and not even know it.

    Really nasty little things.

Yeah, you can just use that "copy from word" button. To enhance your wordpress editor toolbar you can use the following plugin: www.laptoptips.ca/projects/tinymce-advanced/
