Getting Opt-In's But Low Confirmations - Pls Help!

I was abit surprised to see that slightly more than half of my subscribers do not confirm

I know there isn't anything I can do in Aweber itself. On my website sales page there is an automatic message that pops up to say thank you for opting in - should I mention something on here to also say you need to confirm in your email?

I did some test emails in Gmail and Yahoo. All emails went straight to primary inbox and not promotional or spam folders. The title of email is also very clear stating that confirmation is required for free guide.

Anyone have any ideas of how I can improve my confirmations

Thanks

Apart from switching to single opt-in, you mean?

Yes, definitely. You should explain it all very clearly, with words and pictures, and a special notice for those using Gmail, and so on. If you're going to use opt-in confirmation, you need to "get very busy", with clear explanations, to maximize the proportion confirming.

Meanwhile, this thread may help you: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post8554418

Thank you Alexa and the thread was helpful. Just spoke to Aweber and switching from double to single is so easy and just the flick of a button. I have just tried some paid advertising so definitely think I will now give single opt -in a go. The guy said also that I can also revert back at any time so it would be silly not to try this out.

      Thanks again.

Change your confirmation message. Instead of simply saying ‘click here to get your free ebook’, tell them what they will find in a few words.

Write something that will make them care about your guide, like:

“This ebook will help you solve your financial problems. You will find new income streams and you will learn many smart marketing techniques that will help you easily sell your products.”

Try this method if you will see that many people unsubscribe, besides being in your list thanks to the single opt-in.

Aweber has the option to turn off double optins.
Login into your Aweber account click the list
you want to edit. You will see confirmed opt in.
Then when you see "Require Opt in on web forms"
    Switch it to off

You've already made the wise switch to single optins.

    Problem solved.

Will's spot on. I've been with Aweber for many years and have tested this thoroughly, your conversions and earnings will skyrocket once you turn off the double optin feature.

With more opt-in steps involved, some subscribers will drop off along the way.

Aweber recommends double opt-ins, but i wouldn't use it. I stick to single opt-in. I wonder if your problem is that you didn't make the settings change under #3 of the list settings options.

      Moneyland,

Aside from the single vs. double opt-in discussion, I'm surprised no one has mentioned what I'm going to suggest. It seems everyone is saying the reason for your low conversion rate is the fact that people have to "confirm" their desire to hear from you.

Could the key to a higher conversion be simply a more compelling reason to join your subscriber list?

If your prospects were super targeted . . .

and your offer to join the list was "over the top" compelling - a real "I gotta have this" jaw-dropper . . .

do you think your conversion rate would skyrocket (regardless of single or double opt in)?

Might be worth thinking about, huh?

      Good luck to you,

      Steve
