Is there a script that does this on Wordpress?

I want to be able to put a redirect script in my Wordpress theme that will allow me to create a page in Wordpress that redirects to another link (an affiliate link).

I have a script that can do this which I received when I bought an ebook, but I'm not sure what the rights to this script is and I'm waiting to here back from the person I bought the ebook from to see if I can use this script and give it to my own buyers.

So while I'm waiting for his response I just thought I'd check and see if anyone knew of a script like this available.

I'm not sure I understand why you'd need a script for that Sheryl. Can't you just make the link go to an html or php redirect page with simple code on your domain? Wouldn't that be easier?

No I don't want the whole domain to be redirected, only a page within the blog. So when I have my page tabs across the menu bar at the top of the site, I want to be able to click on that page tab and be redirected.

You should be able to do (a search engine friendly) redirect with a 301 redirect using .htaccess see - How to Redirect a Web Page Using a 301 Redirect

OK, I see what you mean. I'd probably find a way to hack the code lol. But I see what you mean about needing a plugin/script.

Or a simple page with a meta refresh. I've done that a few times on blogs before.

The social networking link goes to another site.

Look up the Pretty Link plugin. This dude created an awesome redirect script and it also tracks how many times your "link" has been clicked. Totally free, but I would pay for it in a heartbeat.

Hi Sheryl. I came across this plugin just today, though I haven't had time to install it. It's called Link-Hopper and you can get it for free by searching WordPress [dot] com.

The WordPress [dot] com site says it was made to "Easily set up links like /hop/google/ to redirect users to Google [you can insert whatever page you want; Google was the example here]. This can be useful in masking your affiliate links. If your affiliate link needs to change, you can just change the HOP values in a single place, without having to search your site for outdated links.

Just create the page then go into your cpanel and create the redirect for that page.
