This A Viable Service to Offer

I want to offer a Wordpress install and configuration service.

Is this a good service to offer? Is there a market for it in your opinion?

Where is the best place to post the service?

    Hi Bruha,

Yes it is a good service but remember you have a lot of competition. You need to decide what is unique about your service that will set you up above all the others.

You can try an advert in the Warriors For Hire sub forum to start getting exposure to your services.

You can post the service right here on this forum, Warriors for hire, on Fiverr...or anywhere your prospective audience can be reached. You may have to do a little research into your prospect, and the best places to reach them.

Well, there is nothing wrong about offering that service but just like what DianaHeuser said, you should be able to make your services stand out because you got a lot of competition out there. Come up with marketing strategies that will make your potential clients think that there is something about you that they can't get from others who offer similar services.

Check out some of the freelancing sites such as guru.com and freelancer.com. It may be that people are looking for the exact service you are offering.

    I don't know.

My guess, from looking around, is that there are about the same number of service-providers as customers. All the sites one sees offering this service seem to have very few items indeed in their "portfolio", and they look "unattended", as well. (Some don't even have a portfolio at all, so they won't be getting many customers!).

The business model of "You buy your hosting through my affiliate-link and I'll design/install a WordPress blog for you with a choice of themes and plug-ins for you" is so well-known that I suspect it might be too competitive to get off the ground, these days. And not many people are going to pay much for such a service, surely?

I don't get around in IM circles very much, apart from here, but even I know of large numbers of people doing this. On that basis, I'm guessing it's terribly competitive, but I might be wrong, of course.

It might be better as an off-line venture.

Run some local ads or even cold call.

You could even do it for free with the purchase of hosting and premium theme from your affiliate link. Also getting them on a list and promoting some premium themes

If someone has a local business, and doesn't know how to create a website themselves (they will probably not know what wordpress is) they could be prospects. So promote offline amongst business startups and local traders.
