My blog is getting the majority of its traffic from direct visits. Followed by Facebook and Google searches.

I am perplexed because my blog is less than a month old and am not sure why people would be searching for it directly.

The only reason I can think of is that my website is in the signature of another forum that I post on.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Probably people in Canada are searching for "canadian investments" and that happens to be the keywords of your website. Check your traffic stats from your Cpanel provided by your hosting company and see which countries are landing on your site.

    It will probably be Canada.

  • Could be repeat visitors who are coming back multiple times. They would typically use the exact URL rather than any search. You should be able to see what % of people are new vs repeat visitors in your analytics tools.

Direct traffic can be very valuable!

You may narrow down your answer by examining your Analytics. See where the unique hits are coming from and determine whether you are getting a bunch of return visits.

Are you filtering out your own visits - like to work on your site (if you do so online, e.g. WordPress)?

What do you mean by "direct visits"? Not type-in traffic?

Type-in traffic will surely be mostly "returners", not "uniques"?

Why would that be "direct visits"? Sorry if I've totally misunderstood you, but if you have some kind of analytics, surely you can see whether that's where the traffic's coming from?

Again, apologies indeed if I've totally missed the point, but I don't quite follow what you're asking, here. How can it be "direct visits" without your knowing where it's from?

      Thanks everyone for your responses.

Perhaps I'm not using the correct terminology. What I'm referring to is that a fair amount of people are typing in the URL of my blog to get to my site, as opposed to finding me via Google, etc.. Almost all of them are Canadian.

I do have Analytics set up.

What I'm trying to figure out is how they actually heard about the blog to type in the URL. It's pretty much brand new.

Could they be mistyping another popular url?

Has your link been shared on Facebook or Twitter by friends? If so, that could explain why you are getting so many hits if friends are clicking through from posted links.

yeah., you should be testing everything WF members suggested

how many direct visits did you get by the way?

if it's just a few then maybe it's your own visits?
