Solo ads are simply text emails with links sent out to a certain amount of people to get clicks to the links.

You should not make the ad to long. You want to sell the click fast but make sure your email copy in the ad is congruent with your optin page message. Assuming that's where you are sending the click (That's what you should be doing). You'll want to use your swipe. Don't simply let the seller's swipe and let them send out any old copy.

You are simply advertising your ad on someone's email list. Make sure you have control over the copy of your email. Make it sweet and arouse curiosity. You are selling the "click" at this point, not your product. Use compelling copy to get people to click-through to your product.

More importantly, you need to ask questions like how responsive is the list? What are the open rates? CTRs? When can the clicks be delivered? What offers has the list seen?

Let's look at a hypothetical situation where A is a solo ad seller and B is a solo ad buyer.

B has a product/service listed on a webpage or landing page. He wants to send traffic to that page. The purpose of sending traffic to the page may vary but mostly it is done to have sign ups to an email list. There are multiple ways of sending quick traffic. One of the ways is SoloAds. So B starts looking for some body who has a list of emails ids of people that may be interested in what he has to offer.

During research B finds A who has a list interested in B's product and service. A is willing to send an email to his list describing B's business for a fee. The terms and conditions are agreed upon between both the parties. So B gets some instant traffic to his web page by paying A.

That is SoloAds in a nutshell. There are a lot of aspects and intricacies involved in this entire thing, but I guess if I write any more I will not be talking from experience. There are quite a few very successful warriors who are experts in this field. I am sure you will find a lot of help.

A solo ad is an email -- nothing more nothing less.

The term refers to the method of advertising. You are sending a solo (one) email ad to a list, usually one that you do not own.

@gcgipson - Think "text" and a link to your offer in the email ( as oppose to graphics ). The purpose of your 'ad copy' is to encourage a 'qualified' click, so your copy should be short and targeted as oppose to 'generic'. Test more than one ad copy 'email swipe' per offer. You will also need to track the clicks generated by your ad (some sites have their own tracker incorporated as a 'feature').

It's just a simple promotional e-mail. Instead of sending an e-mail to your subscribers, you pay to send it to somebody else's list. That's what a solo ad is. I suppose you can make an arrangement with the seller to include graphics in the solo ad but normally it's just a simple text e-mail.

Solo ads are very simple once you get everything down, and that takes little to no time. The real problem is finding the right person to send your offer to their list. You need to have a good capture page, eye catching words, and something worth value to the person within 3 seconds of looking at it. It's called the 3 second rule. Just go to a solo ad directory to find someone and read their reviews, there are good reviewers usually and that will give you a good idea of what you will be getting from that provider.

With a solo ad, you'll want to give your reader a reason to click through the link from the email. Otherwise it will hit the spam bin very fast. You might try offering a free report or free trial 3 day trial of your membership site. This could be enough enticement to turn passive readers into active shoppers.

I have a couple questions on solo ads and felt I should add them here instead of start a new thread.

    1. How to pick good solo ad sellers? What red flags to look for?
    2. Is solo ad business a sustainable one? Can it last years to come?
    3. How to find non IM solo ad sellers?

I am interested in buying solo ads in IM so if anyone is selling please contact me and thanks in advance to all who answered.

      1. How to pick good solo ad sellers? What red flags to look for?

There are various facebook groups that will publish testimonials from people that have used a solo ad seller - they will list things like number of clicks bought, number received, optin rate. This gives you a reasonable idea of what you can expect. Also skype groups are good because you connect with people and can talk to them - makes it seem more accountable. But ultimately it's impossible to be 100% sure.

      2. Is solo ad business a sustainable one? Can it last years to come?

I've not sold any solo ads but heaps of people do. Not sure how sustainable it is in the long term...seems a bit limited to me but maybe as one part of a model that includes creating list building products, tools to make it easier to build a list and things like that.

      3. How to find non IM solo ad sellers?

Just look for websites in the niche you are interested in and see if they are collecting email ids or giving something away in exchange for an email id. They have a list and may be open to advertising your free gift to their list.

I wonder where this confusion come from.

If you never joined a "solo ad" list so you can see for yourself how everything works, then listen closely.

Join other people's opt-in list, and you'll start to see patterns. Learn from their approach, but create your own unique writing style.

What you should avoid like the plague is making your solo emails alike.

You want each email be different than the other, and you want all your emails be different from your competitors.

For example, lots of people promote the same program, and use a very similar subject line and email solo. This dilutes your traffic and clicks.

That's why I recommend you create your own "swipe" emails, and avoid using the ==> in front of your links

Everybody use this. It's the "footprint" of spammers and solo ad blasters.

If you want to be known as running in that league, then be my quest.

    Hope it helps?

Why aren't you getting your training from them or your sponsor.?

That would be weird if you learned about solo ads here then came back here to promote EN.

      Wouldn't it?

I think solo ads is a quick way to generate traffic fast enough to see some sales hopefully as your objective will be to always think about how best can I convert all those prospects to buyers. So, the landing page is also an important consideration in the whole equation. Once the landing page is set up, the other factor will be the sales page. How well does it convert is also something that will need to be tested before a conclusion can be reached. So, actually having solo ads is a good way to find out fast enough if a landing page is converting well before investing more time and effort in generating traffic to your offers.

The key to a successful solo ad is to get the list owner to personally use and endorse your product. If the list owner doesn't love your product already, there is little chance his readers will either.
