Looking for suggestions on treasure hunting site

I have a friend who is a real-life, honest to god treasure hunter, and he has come up with something really cool. The idea is to use today's technology to sell memberships in a "co-discovery" deal, through which people get to go along for the virtual ride when he does projects to find sunken ships, old buried treasure and so on.
He's going to do a KickStarter campaign, but before that gets going he has put up a website that you can see here. I like the basic design, but think that it is lacking something. So I'm wondering if you guys could take a quick look and make whatever suggestions you think would help.
