You do need a squeeze page so that you can build an email list that you can market to whenever you want. I don't know anyone who would say don't build a list.

This just isn't so. There are several other ways of building lists.

I wouldn't dream of trying to refer any traffic directly to an affiliate offer without using a landing-page in-between, to try to retain some of the traffic, and I wouldn't be able to make a living that way, but I don't use squeeze-pages at all: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7939758

Clearly you need some sort of website, so that you can have a landing page from which you can build a list. It doesn't need to be a squeeze page, though (but that's one method, of course). Otherwise you're just losing almost all the traffic you generate. Not many people buy anything at their first visit to a sales page, and you have to keep them returning, sell them other stuff in future, and so on (that's where most of the money is, in affiliate marketing).

These four posts/threads will perhaps help you.

Is it a good idea to spend some time on building a mailing list ?

In short, your goal is to build your list and more importantly, build a relationship with that list. If you are starting out I would drive traffic to an opt-in page for a freebie.

Once you start seeing some results and you're getting the hang of this, you can drive your traffic to a sales page but if they try to navigate away from the sales page, you can have an exit-pop to capture their email that gives away a freebie.

Before you try to promote any type of affiliate program, sit down and write out a good set of auto responder messages. This might seem obvious, but so many marketers are focused on getting the email leads and subscribers, they don't have anything to say once they do.

Don't just rely on the occasional off the cuff newsletter for communication with your subscriber. Have something relevant to say to people who were kind enough to subscribe to your newsletter.
