Someone stole my YouTube video, what do?

My YT account was banned several months ago, I was making almost $100/day from one video that went viral.

Come to find out, some punk is using the same exact video I made with my voice and footage. He is probably the guy that flagged me and got me banned, I'm guessing he saved my vid and then reported me.

What is the best course of action to take in a case like this?

I would contact YT you still own the copyright to the video whether your account has been banned or not

    Good luck

    Hey Alex,

Just curious but what kind of video was it? Don't have to give up your niche I was just wondering was it training, how to, or just one something funny you came up with that took off?

    Thanks

When you're account is banned, Youtube does tell you who flagged your videos. Like this channel for instance http://www.youtube.com/user/SoulfulHouseMusic11

Just flag that video and claim copyright it's easy and takes less than 24 hours.

Next time when you open a new channel and have at least 5 videos approved for monetization then register for YouTube Content Manager. That way, whenever someone uploads your content on their channel, all the ads revenue goes to you.

Unfortunately Youtube won't do much ...

You should definitely report it to YouTube and talk to them about it. And I kind of think that Not So New's idea will work after you are done reporting it to YouTube. If you find a way to make it viral again, then you will be able to make things appear like nothing really happened.

You don't have to complain to Youtube, that wont help. You have to create a Copyright Infringement Notification to Youtube but if you don't give them enough proof that the content is yours then they wont help you and they wont even respond.

Send your copyright complain here instead: Submit a copyright infringement notification - YouTube

This is why it is wise to register for YouTube Content Manager, you'll choose whether the stolen content should be blocked or just get ads revenue from the stolen content.
