Personally, I use hostgator for my hosting and they have been very good to me. I think many people in here will echo that.

    Hi IW:

    Hope all is well today.

Rather then recommend a hosting company if I may place a suggestion for you and the fine Warriors.

Research every possible factor about the company. I'll tell you why. When I was writing my book on the Jefferson Airplane I needed a website to coincide with the promotion. In an impartial consumer poll the top 2 listings turned out to be nothing close to what was stated. One was so awful they couldn't spell host (never mind do it) and the other between slowness, attitude, price increases, and poor phone hours wouldn't be worth 1.00 a year.

Get feedback from friends and family that don't have anything to gain by telling you the truth. You don't want somebody bragging about a company only to find they make 50.00 if you sign up.

Take your time and hope you find the best!

    >kayelex: Yes. Agree many people have been talking good about host gator. Will Check that out. >Craig: Appreciate your advice. Will check that out! In fact, I did read a lot of review of hosting, but I find that they are not honest review. Quite disappointed with them. Anyway, thanks again and will find my way out! Guys, have a good day!

Nothing will bring your business to a grinding halt faster than a bad host. I found that out the hard way. I've been with hostgator for 2 years and have never had a problem. I can't remember the last time my sites were down.

I personally use Hostgator, Bluehost, and a lesser-known one called Downtownhost. Happy with all 3.

There is always good and bad. But at times, it is also quite difficult when comes to hosting issues.

Some issues are not to be blame for hosting provider as it can be networking problems beyond the control of hosting provider. As I am also hosting for some clients, I do understand certain issues. But then there are also bad hosting providers who do not care for their clients and ignore their pleads.

So far, I have got pretty good clients who understand the situation when it is beyond our control. That is why we only guaranteed 99.9% uptime a year. There will be time for maintenance where it is usually done in the middle of the night that last for 5 - 30 minutes. And major maintenance may take up to an hour or so.

Web hosting server is also like home PC where is does need some maintenance once a while to keep it running healthy.

Anyway, hope you will be able to find a good hosting provider.

One company i've used for a long time is Bluewho.com. The service is reliable and their support is amazing. I couldn't recommend them higher.

Go to their support forums and see what their customers post. they have raving fans - me included. : )

Here is a site I was putting together, it is still in the works, and it may not be all that useful, but at least you can see a list of hosting providers here.

Its not really all the mainstream hosting providers, its put together by all my previous workers and designers / programmers and one of the sites is mine.

      united915 dot com

Also, I have worked with many hosting providers, but you just have to understand all of them have limitations and when it comes to code and other technical know how its always gonna be hard, no matter how good or bad they are. Now if its simple things like email or downtime, then its bad.

I use godaddy for my site havent had any issues with them and very reliable service. But if you really wanna go all out do a google search for amazon cloud servers. I use that to host videos and it basically has different servers located all through out the world. It works exactly like a cloud so for example if you are in London and you trying logging into the site it will use bandwidth from several servers near or around the area where IP is. It's a little complicated to setup but it works amazing!

You didn't say who you are using now, but you will find that HostGator is very popular with members here.
You can use a HostGator.com coupon to join for a cent and see if they are suitable.

It depends on what your hosting needs are.

Is it going to use a lot of cpu cycles? Send lots of emails? Basic pages?

For most people, hostgator works. I have 10 or so sites w/ them.

Though it might be a late reply, but still there are people who are in the struggle to find a better web hosting for their business site. I would suggest that yahoo provides better web hosting services to its customers. I would suggest people to go for yahoo web hosting to have your site hosted without any problem.

a client of mine used yahoo and it was a pain in the you know what. Not the service itself but the functionality.

for example, very simple php scripts didn't work because yahoo blocked them.

not trying to bash yahoo. I'm just speaking from experience. i would NOT recommend yahoo

    Go with Hostgator or Bluewho.com.

Do not use Yahoo, I strongly suggest never use a service that is not all about hosting, like yahoo or any others. Those companies are great in what they do, but no hosting. I used Yahoo hosting for someone I was doing work for and it took me forever just to find simple things, like I said its not all about hosting.

It all depends on what you use your hosting for.

Used GoDaddy support service varied each time I called.

Used Yahoo, couldn't find the most basic things. (not all about hosting)

United915 dot com - some I used myself and other designers and programmers used from my previous job.

HostRocket, I have used for a long time, with no problems.

Another thing you can find a great hosting provider, but I run into alot of users that aren't sure about hosting and they tend to blame it on the host provider, when many times it was the person.

I use hostnine, very reliable and I like the fact they have servers all across the States, one in the UK and Singapore which is good for SEO purposes.

I've also been impressed with their support, they normally get back to me in minutes.

    Cheers,
    Danny.
