I have an idea for a software geared toward the IM market.

Question

How should I go about making this happen?

What I have so far

Need to outsource the project since I have no software creating skillz.
Need to hire a copywriter to create the sales page
Need affiliates to help sell the product

I would appreciate some advice on how I should start off this project.

First put together the ins and outs of the project. All the details related to how it works and functions including features.

Once you have that then you can start prospecting. Get multiple quotes from various programmers through all the bidding sites out there like Odesk, elancer etc... Check the work of the people providing you with bids and check with people they have created software for before as references that can attest to their work.

Next get a contract going and make sure you agree on milestones of the project being completed. Once you agree on a final price then give it a whirl.

Let me tell from my experience, this is not easy at all if you are doing this for 1st time.

    - 1st you need to create a prototype of the software, design the menu, buttons, grids, pages etc... then write all your requirements down/
    - then look for a software adviser to ask what programming language is require for the project.
    - decide a database and design the database
    - look for a good freelancer that fit your requirement, but don't go for a cheap rate programmer.
    - you can get good copywriter and graphic at about $300+$350
    - affiliate is the most important part, but normally they will not entertain newbie, you need to spend a lot of time to get know of them, talk to them, then slowly introduce your product.

I have done all these by myself and i can say the work is so much difficult then building a website and make money as affiliate.

First is market research. None of the rest matters if you create a software tool you THINK people want but they don't actually. So make sure you do very thorough research and make sure the tool you are creating is something that people are actively seeking.

    Hi, makie!

Before you start, consider some important points listed below.

First, you need to define your target audience. Note that “everyone, who does SEO” is not an answer, you must really identify who’ll be the final user of your app - whether it will be a blogger, an SEO freelancer, a link builder, a content marketer or an an SEO agency.

Second, you need to decide what your SEO tool will be capable of. Whether it will be a scalable SEO platform of an app that focuses on some particular aspects of search engine optimization (e.g. link building, rank checking, etc..).

Third, choose a platform you would like to build your SEO tool on and hire a specialist to prepare the environment.

When you are done with all the steps listed above, you will need to hire a professional developer (or a group of developers) who will do the coding part.

After that you may start building your databases. You may use WebMeUp SEO API for creating databases of links, keywords, etc.. The process is not that difficult, but you may also need professional help of developers.

Next, hire a good designer to create a friendly and appealing UI/UX: Nowadays users look up for the most easy to use and feature reach apps. So you should not only think about the functionality of your tool, but also about its design.

And the final stage is marketing - you may promote your app in various ways: via AdWords campaigns, affiliate partners, etc.

    That's basically it.

Hope you find these tips useful.
