Should I build a list if I sell 1 product?

Hello my fellow Warriors.

I rebuilt my website last month and have seen some progress.
All of my traffic comes from my Youtube videos.
My conversion rate currently is about 1% and I get around 30 visitors per day. But I want a higher conversion rate because I know that this is the best vertical jump program on the market.

Now from your past experiences and honest opinions...

Do you think it will be better to send my traffic to a squeeze page that offers a free 3 week vertical jump program if the individual puts in their name and email?

After they put in their email I would send them the 3 week program via email as well as a link to the sales page.

Then I would send them an e-mail every 3 days with tips on jumping higher as well as include the sales page link on the bottom of every email.

I am a little skeptical about starting a squeeze page because I am seeing 1% conversion rate at the moment and have only 1 product. However, with a squeeze page I think the consumer would see my sales page more than once if they opt-in because I will keep sending them tips on vertical jump training via e-mails they opt-n.

Would you advice for me to start a list since I only have 1 product and would I be able to make more sales that way?

Thank you I appreciate it.

    hi

I see you need a recipe. There’s none

From my past experiences, and my honest opinion is:

Test. There’s no right or wrong method. There’s testing and tracking. And the lessons you grasp from your results.

A squeeze page and list building in general is a long-term strategy to get prospects to like you, trust you and buy from you. It is not guaranteed to make you sales fast. So it depends on what you need, leads or sales. You cannot do both, although you could have an OTO or special offer on the page, and write a dozen of follow-ups and link to your sales page… you’ll still have to drive a lot of traffic to convert. Testing and tracking is still required.

You could focus on following-up with your buyers. I hope you build a list or at least email them by hand, with another special offer within a week after they buy your main item. And so on.

    They’re buyers, not info seekers.

With a freebie mailing list, they expect less promos, and more freebies.

Does it help? Do you have any further questions?

You just answered your own question...

For some people (and a lot of marketers would even say 'for most people') it takes repeated exposures to a sales page for people to buy...

Not to mention you can add more products to your "sales funnel" at a later time if you so choose which would give you the opportunity to earn more money from subscribers...how would you be able to do this if you didn't capture some kind of contact info from those people...

The point of email marketing from a financial gain standpoint are:

    1. To have multiple chances to sell to your subscribers...the only way you could accomplish this without email marketing is if people were returning to your website multiple times on their own or seeing your different pieces of content pointing them back to your sales page (which may or may not happen...why leave it to chance :confused...

    2. To be able to sell multiple items to subscribers...again this would be hard to do if you didn't have some sort of opt-in...

There's a reason why so many veteran marketers recommend capturing email addresses or some sort of contact info...it makes marketing vastly more profitable, efficient, and cost effective...

Can you still make good money without list building...maybe but it will probably be harder...and like most veteran marketers have said in the past even if you're making "good money" without list building you'd probably make A LOT more by incorporating list building into your marketing...

Are all markets/niches/services suited for email marketing...no but the argument could be made that email marketing would work for a lot of different markets/niches/services...

However, if you're skeptical your best bet would be to test it both ways...have some videos pointing to a squeeze page with your email series already set up and see how many buy that way...and then have other videos pointing to your site and see how many buy without using email marketing (although you're saying your conversion doing it without email marketing is 1%)...

Or if you don't want to test both at the same time...you already seem to think that your conversion rate without email marketing is 1% so just change the links for those videos to the link for a squeeze page and see if you can get a conversion rate better than 1% using a squeeze page and email marketing...

Or if you don't mind testing at the same time for any new videos have a link pointing to your squeeze page and leave the links of your old videos alone...

You'd have to find a way to track it so that you're not crediting the squeeze page/autoresponder series with sales your actual website without email marketing is making and vice versa...

My suggestion would be to create 2 different affiliate links for both approaches...

    Apologies for the long post...

You can get more traffic if you make some more videos and yes it is good to build a list but you need more than one products.

    The short answer is YES

You should be capturing the leads even if you sell only 1 product at the moment

That might change in the future (and should) so you will have their contact info

List building will help you not just to sell your product, but also promote other people's products.

You can also promote physical goods such as jump shoes that will help in having higher vertical jump, advance equipment to measure vertical jump accurately etc..

P.S - a 3 week free content will be a bit too long.. You should keep it to 3-5 emails..

Building your list and following up with that list will probably bump your conversions up. They should opt-in then come to a page saying hey the free report is on its way to your inbox but in the mean time check this out, and then its your sales page, and then if they don't buy you have the follow up sequence in place to increase conversions
