Default Refer a Friend with Payback Legit?

Hello, first post here. Have read through various threads, but have not been able to find an answer to this on WF nor Google search.

I have close to 5 active websites. Each making a little bit of money with AdSense and affiliate links.

My buddy wants to start a small business and is in need of a few things, one of them being hosting, website design, etc. It just so happens that I'm an affiliate with various hosting companies who pay more to affiliates than, the referral pays to sign-up.

So, is it legit to have him click on a banner link from my webpage and sign-up as my referral? Then, through my affiliate earnings, payback the money he spent to sign-up, which essentially gives him the site for free? Just for calcs, I would receive $100 for referral and he would spend $50 for a year of hosting. I plan to give him $50 back and pocket $50 for myself.

I've read through the TOS of the hosting companies that I've affiliated with and although some of it seems vague, there's really no direct mention of this act of payback as being frowned upon.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I don't see anything wrong with letting your friend sign up for a service through one of your links....that's why you have them right.....to make money.

And what you do with the money is your business.

That being said...you should prob not sign up yourself just to get a discount.

That may be violating the spirit of the aff. agreement.

Just my two cents

Michael

Michael, thanks and i do agree with you that signing myself up by clicking on my own link is strictly prohibited. Also is in many companies affiliate terms of agreement.

Would appreciate more feedback b/f making my decision, so please post a reply if you've read this thread.
