Advice for a Newbie...

Hi everyone. I am ashamed to admit it, but I have been lurking around here for a while (4 years!!). Anyway, I am now going to come out of the shadows and start to take action! From what I've read in here, that's about half the battle!

I am currently looking at building a list, through some sort of highly converting squeeze page. The only thing is, there is lots of advice and it has my head spinning!

I am humbly asking advice from my fellow Warriors to set my on the right path. I am not looking to be spoon fed, maybe just some pearls of wisdom that I can use that helped you out along the way.

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to becoming a highly contributing member of this forum!

Shawn

My advice will pick one of the list building greats like Charles Kirkland, Sean Mize, Alex Jeffreys etc and follow one of them and if possible make one of them as your mentor and follow what they will teach you.
This will help you cut through all the list building info overload. Hope this help.

I will definetely look into those guys. Any info that I can get my hands on will help me decide what is "killer" and what is "filler."

Have you heard of Bryan Wynter's 5figureday program? You can sign up for free and get a free website to build a list quickly with several optional squeeze pages and earn multiple streams of income at the same time. You can google his product or check out my blog

Know your target audience and put a compelling audience specific offer in front of them. Find a leader in your niche that you can follow and pattern after. Put your blinders on from there.

      Spurl,

Do you play for the Red Sox?

One of the very first things I would do if I were in your shoes would be to join the War Room here at the Warrior Forum.

There is a lot of additional help there as well as many freely given products, helps, advice, and systems that talented Warriors offer.

The price is way low for what you get and you just might find a system that you can do that will get you going right out of the gate!

      Good luck to you,

      Steve

The best thing you can do is actually start. You've been here 4 years, so you have an idea of what needs to be done. Start doing it now. You can tweak and improve from there.

Find a good mentor if you want to fast track your success.

I agree with Steve - Love the War Room! Getting to know your audience and what they want will help you put an offer on the table that will take down most barriers they have to sharing email and name. Remember to consistently go above and beyond to share content and information with your list - over deliver - and they will share your information with others.

Study your market, know your market. Learn what they like, what they don't.
Create a short list if you'd like of tips your market would love to have and provide it to them.

Network with others in that complement what you're offering in your market and contribute to their following and they'll come to you if you provide great content. You can have them come to your squeeze page or you could have them come to your blog it all depends on which business model you're using.

Good idea. This should be your primarily way of converting visitors and leads into customers.

You need to create a free gift that is relevant to your particular target audience. It must be something of value. Use that to build your list. Offer it on your squeeze page. Makes sure your squeeze page states the benefits on your free gift.
There must be only one action possible on your squeeze page and that is for people to fill out your opt in form. Any others will distract.
Have your autoresponder set up with a few messages that will go out on autopilot. The first one will include a link to your free gift download page.

Thanks everyone! Great advice so far! When it comes to squeeze pages, is less more? I've been looking at something called Lead Rocket. Any thoughts?

PS: How do I thank in the posts and how can I reply to more than one person in one single post?

I think the best way to learn is to start and make mistakes. The more mistakes you make - the better. Don't get IM courses if you don't have the money to invest.

The top Squeeze Page Themes and Plugins is Optimizepress. You can also try HybridConnect.

Consider self hosted email marketing. Might be a lot cheaper.

Thanks button on the bottom right corner of each reply. Though I think you need a certain minimum number of posts for that to appear. Reply to multiple posts by clicking multiquote in the bottom right hand corner of each reply.

      All the best

I have done some more reading and I NOW definetely think building a list, through a squeeze page, is the way to go! I guess I will have to set up some sort of messaging system for subcribers via an autoresponder. I was wondering if any of you Warriors out there have an opinion on autoresponders? I am looking at Aweber at the moment. If there is something better out there please let me know!

hi there ... I would definitely suggest you pick a program from one of the greats and then follow it to a 't'. There are strategies which work very well. What is key is that you pick one and just go with it. If you need any guidance, I would be happy to point you in the right direction.

4 years are more than enough to learn, You should pick a niche to build a list for. Get a good looking site designed, then you need a squeeze page, and then you know what steps you should take to build up subscribers list. Building up subscribers list is another game you need to master it.

Thanks for the advice! I got a good idea what I am going to use for my niche and will be implementing my "plan" shortly. Once I get it up and rolling my plan is to post my results in this thread.

    Spurl,

It's going on 4 days since your original post.

What have you done so far?

It sounds like your problem is 'pulling the trigger', not a lack of knowledge.

If you haven't done anything other than continue to ask for answers, peruse other threads, and read a few of the links that have been provided to you in this thread, you'll never succeed.

Get a squeeze page set up right now and publish the thing.

Don't come back to this thread until you have something going.

    Hope this helps.
