Advice, Don't Want to Go Wrong AGAIN!

Hi All,

I have had a few websites now, some of which I've just totally got wrong and I can't get it back now.

I want to ask a few questions, so I can get everything (hopefully) right.

One:
I have around 12 articles in draft form now (all have around 1000 words+) all uniquely written by me. When should I start to publish? I saw that putting 3 up straight away, and then 1 every three days is a good way to go. Any advice?

Two:
One comment I got was there was nothing capturing my visitors. They told me I should have a box pop up when they visit my site telling them to like my page? What is the best plugin for this? Any suggestions?

Three:
I want a very very simple opt-in form, that integrates with my theme. That is basically just "email" and submit or something, so they can get updates and exclusive content to their email account. But I am also then able to list build - Any suggestions?

These are my three main questions, thankyou so much for your time

Wilks3y.

It doesn't matter very much, but the above sounds perfectly reasonable to me. (I've never had as many as 12 articles at the start, to be honest. I've done well if I have three or four).

Search engines go through a learning curve as to how often to update a site. If you're intending to post new content every 3 days over the long term, then by all means post them 3 days apart.

The important things to know (about articles, in this context) are ...

    (i) Publishing articles just on your own site isn't really a traffic-generation plan at all: all that can ever bring you is some gradual, eventual search-engine traffic that's typically very low-performing, unresponsive and poor quality anyway, and in the overall scheme of things "generally not worth talking about". Using articles for marketing is about taking your content to the places where the targeted traffic you want to attract is already looking/reading/visiting (after publishing it first yourself, to secure the initial indexation-rights, of course);

    (ii) Article marketing isn't about how many articles you have: it's about who reads them (relates to the point above, and to other considerations);

(iii) "Good content" is content that publishers in your niche, who already have access to the traffic you want to attract, want and choose to share with their own subscribers, readers and visitors (either by publishing it or linking to it). That's a very simple, practical definition of "good content", but I think it's a useful one because it relates directly to how content produces income. Or, to word it the other way round (same thing, really), content that directly produces income is content that publishers in your niche, who already have access to the traffic you want to attract, want and choose to share with their own subscribers, readers and visitors.

To "like" your page? Aren't you concerned that (a) a pop-up will irritate people, and (b) a request to "like" your page (I'm assuming/guessing we're talking about some kind of social media thing, here?!) will come across to people as being designed for your benefit rather than for theirs, thus further compounding the natural "pop-up irritation"? I wouldn't dream of doing this on any of my sites!

Sounds good to me. Simple is often best - as long as it's prominently incentivized.

Your autoresponder company will supply this.

You do need an autoresponder company, if you're collecting email addresses in order to send people email (and there's no other reason to collect them!).

Very, very few people will opt in for "updates".

    Some
might for "exclusive email content" but you need to find a much more attractive and appealing way to word it than that. :p

Collecting your visitors' email addresses isn't trivial. It requires care, thought, planning, appropriate display and wording, and incentivization. You have to offer people something they really want, to get their email addresses out of them.

Yes ... read these 5 threads carefully, before you start. Your list is your business's primary asset - it's worth the effort!

What are the essential things to know about list building?

Lists: How Long to Presell - Averages

    Website or squeeze page

Where to get reports to give away on opt in page? (ignore the title: the post linked to is about something more important!)

    Autoresponders vs. Broadcasts

    And good luck.

Submit the articles now. Sign up for Aweber and get a hover ad and an opt-in form on your site for email marketing purposes.

Both awesome and extremely helpful answers. I appreciate that more than you can imagine. Instead of the popup, I will add a widget for the Likes. (Facebook).

I also will try to find a Free alternate to Aweber, I really can't afford to pay for it right now.

    THANKS A BUNCH! Wow

Better, but still bad. It still comes across to visitors as being designed for your benefit rather than for theirs. Because it is, isn't it?! And that matters! At least, don't get one of those appalling "floating ones" that moves about when people scroll down the page - those are really intrusive and nasty and will cost you return visitors. :p

I urge you not to. Big mistake. Nobody's keener on list-building than I am (a look around the forum will quickly convince you of that!), but even I have to acknowledge it's better to start without one than to use a free one. There's long-term downside/opportunity-cost you're not aware of. Here you go: http://www.warriorforum.com/internet...ml#post4171256

GetResponse is $15 per month (first month free). You can take $15 in two months. If you can't, it isn't a "business" at all, and you don't need one!

You can start adding articles from now, and twice a week is fine, you don't need to worry about it, but the articles should be unique and top quality.

I suggest you aweber or getresponse. I have used both and they also come with a trial period.
