How Would You Monetise A Highly Trafficked Political Blog?

I'll keep this short and sweet. I work as an activist because of what's going on in Syria. And I have access to a blog which get's over 100k views a month. At least 5k-6k views a day. The downside is that the blog is running on blogspot. And I can't pull the gentleman away and have no idea how to transfer everything to wp. I did however but the actual domain name just so no one else could snag it up. Any ideas? Should I be posting about this in JV section?

    Have you tried adsense?

Have you looked to see if there are any CPA related offers?

Tough niche to monetize to be honest with you....

It may not be appropriate for the site but novelty items poking fun at politicians on both sides are very hot.

Have you tried building a list? Maybe people in syria would love to buy an eBook explaining how they could work from home and avoid dangers or something along those lines lol.

    Get creative

I agree with starting a list, and adwords. maybe run a survey to see what the people on the list are really interested in and why they come there, to see what items might appeal to them.

If its an activist blog I would avoid using an ad network that you cannot choose who advertises, because the network may place ads that may go against the views of the blog. Additionally to get better Adwords revenue you need specific product based keywords/content otherwise you are stuck with generic ads that pay little in terms of impressions/click-throughs.

I would consider using ad networks like BuyAds and BuySellAds which the larger activist sites like LunaticOutpost, AboveTopSecret, Disclose.TV and GodLikeProductions use. Therefore you can pick and choose your advertisers. A good thing about using those two ad network services is that you can either get paid a regular standard weekly/monthly fee, pay per impression or pay per click.

The other thing I would suggest would be to find out who your audience are, look at your statistics on age, interests, etc. Then find products on Clickbank, CommissionJunction and other CPA networks that give nice commissions. It may be a good idea to look at preparedness products, gold & silver, health and wellness products (vitamins), water filters, DVDs, books, t-shirts/hats/flags/stickers/etc.

You should also build a newsletter and then can promote specific products that you feel that your audience would be interested in as well as news and information. You could also create an ebook based on the information you want to offer people, or hire a ghostwriter from somewhere like 99centarticles and add links to products you personally recommend within the ebook that you give away free for the price of an email address. You could also create an ebook out of specific political writers that you feel would be of interest to your audience.

There are a lot of things you can do to monetize your site. PM me if you want more ideas.

How Would You Monetize A Highly Trafficked Political Blog?
    I would do 3 things...

    1) I'd use AdSense.

    2) Become an affiliate at Amazon and link to new/popular political books.

    3) Finally, I would become an affiliate at CafePress.com and promote political t-shirts and mugs.

Wow, that's a huge traffic, and you can make good use of it applying to adsense.
You can also sell syrian political history related ebooks there.

Adwords and Adsense maybe useful with this, but I am wondering if there's anything more helpful and convincing way to monetize a political blog?
I have read a lot of blogs and articles about this like from the http://www.mario-dumont.com which is all about politics and social media without the use of money.

    1.Get a real domain
    2. Use Buysellads
    3. Offer advertising space for sale.
    4. Run a paid contest - photography, articles etc. in the same niche. The fee shouldn't be very high.
    5. Run job ads from Cj or Peerfly etc. (people would see as a service to the community) If you use Job CPA offers from Peerfly with a $ a lead (on the low end), you'd make some good money.

    Those were just some ideas.

P.S - I wouldn't use adsense if I were you because its got "political" content.

Some good suggestions here, including selling affiliate e-books, and your own t-shirt and mugs.

Adsense is ok, but you can get more creative and make more money. Selling your own products is the best way, and selling someone elses stuff (affiliate mkt) is the second best way.

Apart from tshirts/mugs/posters, what else can you sell to your audience? Maybe an e-book, or an online course? Maybe you can create a paid forum, where your readers can discuss various political issues.

You have to find out what your audience wants. We can give you lots of ideas, but ultimately you know your audience best. Do your research, find out who your audience is, where they comes from, what work they do, how much they earn, what their hobbies, passions and interests are.

Ask them what their pains and needs are. Do a survey, find out what they want to know, what they are willing to pay for, and how much.

The best answer to your question will come from your audience, not from us.

Adsense could work nicely. Think through, what type of report would move readers? What type of product can provide benefits to the audience? Any site providing good content can be monetized because if you are providing value, and a ton of visitors believe in your offering, more than a few folks will pay for some equally valuable report or ebook, and more than a few will click on adsense ads as well.

Just focus heavily on the most popular posts, build a report or ebook on those posts and for goodness gracious, migrate to Wordpress You can find plenty of videos to do this, and if you try monetizing with that blogspot URL, you'll have a tough time doing so. Readers make many assumptions, one of which is that if you haven't paid for hosting, to brand your site, that you are cheaping out, and they;ll usually cheap out on you when it comes to buying anything through your site or clicking on ads

    All the best!
