Hi guys, I'm new to this forum but have heard great things about it. I've read a lot about making money online but there's just so much information about there. My situation is that I hate my job. I only make $1200 p/m and hate my boss so am really wanting to quit. This works out at around $40 a day and I was hoping for some tips on how to make this online? Thanks, Sara |

Whatever you do, don't quit your job until you have either diversified your income into many different streams, or until you have no debt - whichever comes first. Allen |

Get a$40 affiliate program that converts well and drive as much traffic to it as you can. If only converted at 2% you could make $40 a day with 50 unique visitors a day. That is the easiest way to make your 1200 a month. Jeff Mitchell |

There are many ways to make money online, but there is also a big learning curve. If you're really serious about wanting to make it, you'll need to put a lot of work into it. You need to find out what you want to do and I would suggest following someone who is a good leader who can coach you.

Sara, From the few posts that have been made, you can see that there many ways to generate income online. I recommend you choose one method (affiliate programs are a quick and easy way to get started) and stick with it until you really learn it. If you jump from opportunity to opportunity, you are likely to find yourself at the same place a year from now. I want to encourage you to take a look at Site Build It. I think it is a great program for beginners. You can read through the SBI Action Guide online. I also want to reiterate what several have already said. Stick with your job until your online business is well established. This can take some time but, with determination and guidance from fellow Warriors, you are sure to reach your goals. William |

I used Site Build It to get started but found it rather expensive once I knew many of the pieces of the puzzle. If you can invest in its fees, that's a good option. It's taken me longer than I expected to get to a modest livable income with IM, and one reason is that I flitted around, trying a little of this and a little of that. Now I focus more... but you may need to flit around some to find out what to focus on that suits you! <g> |

There seems to be 3 main answers here but I guess some would take more skill than others. If you're a talented writer, it sounds as if short-term income can be made as well as being a sound base for a business. Affiliate marketing seems quite hit and miss though from what I've read on the Warrior forum.

You are going to have to learn to diversify. I bet everyone single person here has made money from a particular traffic source or niche only to have the income dry up. You have to be creative and make sure that even when you do make money you are always on the lookout for something new.

Here is some advice I would give you Sara: 1. Write out, in pen, your goals in a structured format. I wouldn't start with aiming for $1k+ just yet but aim to cover an aspect of your expenses... perhaps next month's phone bill for example. This will give you realistic aims to chase and it will have a profound influence on your mentality. Build your confidence with small, attainable aims. 2. You have to outline your skills and value to other people. If you are good at something, then never be afraid to charge for it. Freelance work can be good money. I funded my whole first few projects by offering my graphic design services to other marketers and had the advantage of studying it at University, so gaining online and offline work was too easy. If you are good at writing, how about writing articles for people so that you can gain a better understanding of how headlines, keywords etc work etc in addition to developing your own writing style and earning some capital to start with. 3. My biggest advice is not to do EVERYTHING yourself. I, and many others, start out with this mindset but it really isn't worth it in my experience. Sure I learned a lot, but you want to get your website/product/service out there as soon as possible. This doesn't mean go crazy with your money, but place a value on your time. It's not free if its taken you two weeks to create a basic website. Time is money. You can find people to outsource work to here at the Warrior forum, Elance, Rentacoder or oDesk to name a few. 4. Start with a hobby or interest. You will feel much more comfortable researching and writing about something you are familiar with. Learn your trade through being you, and then you can begin to branch out in to other markets. Research related keywords (words that acquire regular searches) by using free tools such as Wordtracker and Google's Adwords Keyword Tool. Make a list of these keywords, erasing the irrelevant and delving deeper into the good (do this by repeating this process but with the new keywords you found). These will form the foundations of your site content. 5. Stay away from PPC (Pay-Per-Click). This is for advanced users only and you can easily find your credit card buckling under the pressure if you're careless with it. PPC service providers include Google Adwords, MSN AdCenter, Yahoo Search Marketing and various others (these are the main ones). 6. Think outside-the-box, jump straight in and have fun. Regards, Alex |

I would say find a great mentor first and learn everything you can from them. Then start with affiliate marketing to get a taste of how things work online. You will gain some marketing skills from this. Later you can maybe create your own ebook and sell it or your own website selling your own product.

Hi, As others said, do not quit your job before you have a diversified income source that can replace your job. You've a target - $1,200 a month or $40 a day. Let's say $50 a day. On the Internet, there are numerous things you can do. From providing services to marketing real & digital products. What you can do depends on your skill-set and interest. - If you've good command over the English language, you may start writing and selling articles. That will make some money for you, and at the lowest rates, you'd be able to achieve $40 a day with just 10 articles. - If you've had websites in the past, have worked with wordpress and other CMS'es, and are technically proficient - you may consider flipping startup & established sites. Even if you flip websites at just $99 per piece, and they cost you around $30 to create - you'll achieve your goal. Once you've created some sources of income, and are earning consistently, gradually make a shift to Affiliate Marketing & Creating your own products. You'll see some substantial money there. ---- The best advice I can lend you is to: 1) take action; and 2) stick to a plan The biggest mistake most newbies do is be impatient, give anything a half hearted try and then quickly jump onto something - supposedly - better. Do not do that. Stick to one thing, and give it enough time to see any results. The system is very simple, though may not be easy! Best of luck. |

If the current job is just too boring, it doesn't hurt to try to find another job with almost the same pay but NOT so demanding so after you walk home you still have enough energy to do IM in your spare time. I guess it took at least a couple of years before you can quit your job so the key is now to find one job not so boring but more relaxing ... Good luck. I guess most of IMers here are part-time and are in the same boat. Let us know youprogress and we sincerely hope you succeed. Don't forget to tell us one day, when that day comes, that "I quitted my boring job and make a living now exclusively from IM!" |

You have asked a question that many of us wish we could answer. I am working 65 hours plus a week, so building my IM business has become almost impossible. I am considering taking a job working 40 hours a week so I can spend more time on my IM business.

I agree with most comments here. Do no quit your job until such time you're earning a stable income from your IM gig. If you're good at writing or web design, you may start offering services to warriors here. Or another option would be to sign up as a freelancer in freelancing sites such as elance, GAF, oDesk, etc. |

I did things a little differently I quit my job before I knew I'd be making enough money online -- and I'm not normally a daring person! Thankfully I was so motivated to stay home with my son that it worked out very fast.I don't have any more words of wisdom other than what you see above. I just wanted to let you know that it is possible. Set your mind to it, map out your goals, stick with a system to start earning that money, (if you want to be sensible, save up enough to cover 3 months ), and quit! Your life is your own -- you can do it!

Don't quit your job yet but in time you will be able to, affiliate marketing is where you definately want to start and don't fall for any of those scams about this $97 ebook course will have you banking in no time. It takes a little time but you will be able to succeed my mentor raked in 4 figures in his second month of internet marketing and all from free methods. So don't listen to thoses people who tell you it takes money to make money, It may but the free methods out weigh the paid. The paid ways will make you go broke faster than you got in to this if you don't know what you are doing. So take your time and learn first before you jump right in, the internet will be here and is growing bigger day by day. |

I completely agree that in this economy you should not quit your job until you've found that one thing that can pay your bills. I recommend that you figure out what you are most passionate about. Before you dismiss it at a cliche, lets say that you are most passionate about cooking. You start there and think of ways you can monetize your love of cooking - (cookbooks are kind of played out, so scrap that - you have to learn how to diversify yourself from everyone else) video cookbook of 25 recipes that are each under 10grams of fat or weekly video recipe guide about vegetarian meals, etc. Trust me - there will be a way to monetize whatever you are interested in. If you concentrate on what you love the most, you will feel fulfilled and you'll also be able to make a better "whatever it is you will make" to your potential customers (then they'll come back for more!). If you have any more questions, feel free to message me. |

So many fantastic replies. They certainly back up all the good things I've been hearing about this forum. I will say what I've tried is website flipping. Other than some initial success, I've found it hard to make money with this method. I tried the siteflipacademy method of creating niche sites with joomla and selling them on sitepoint but it didn't work out. It seems harder to make money on start-up sites than it used to be. It's a method I'd like to make money with but every man and his dog have tried/are trying it and it appears to have become somewhat saturated. Article writing seems to be a popular choice and possibly more realistic than affiliate marketing. Other than this forum, where else can I offer those services? Is it feasible to sell say 40 articles a week? And even more once I can start charging more and outsource? |

personally i would do whatever i could to get a bit of money together, sell articles, websites etc until i had say $1000. then i would go all out ppc style. all the big earners use ppc and by big earners i mean four to 6 figures a day.

Yes, and there are basically 2 ways you can earn money online: 1) Sell your own products 2) Sell someone's else products (that includes Cost Per Acquisition model) They are of different routes. If you are just starting out, try the second one first. But ultimately you need to have your very own unique product in order to make it BIG online. However, if you only aim to get a couple thousand dollars per month to compliment your current income, it's definitely a "can-do". Learn and read through these forums - before spending a dime online. There are quite a few good material here on this forum. Good luck, and don't get scammed by Get Rich Quick scams because they don't exist. To your success, Roy |

I would say focus on article marketing. Focus on finding high search very low competition keywords. Then write your articles around the terms you found. Preferably a product name. Next link the article to the product page on E-bay (very good aff. program), then drive links to your articles. Try to achieve top 3 positions in google. Once you start earning a little you may begin outsourcing. It's very simple... ![]() The reason I like E-bay so much is because if someone signs up for an account you get paid. They don't necessarily have to buy.. Hope this helps |

Ok - I'm going to suggest a slightly different path, given that this is the way I started and it still holds today... 1. Pick a market where you have both an interest, some experience or at least a desire to dig in and learn about it, and has some proven buying activity around information (ebooks, dvd's, seminars, workshops, etc...) There are thousands of possibilities from broader health & wellness, business, hobby, relationships, personal development....etc fields. 2. Dig into the niche and learn what problems or desires people are trying to overcome/realize...now put together a "solution" to one of those challenges to give away - your objective is to begin building a list. This could be a report, a video, an ecourse, a mini-ebook, a telephone interview....it doesn't matter so much what it is rather that it answers a pressing question for your marketplace. 3. Begin to drive traffic to a landing page (either using paid traffic or using content to generate traffic) and build a list of those who want your giveaway. 4. As soon as they get your giveaway, you begin balancing giving them valueable information and marketing affiliate products (eventually your own products) for profit. This front-end system can be put together in a matter of a couple weeks - traffic generation can be instant through paid traffic or grow well within weeks if you use aggressive content generation techniques (free). The good part of this approach is that you are building a bond with your prospects and can try different offers and products to them - your conversion rates will be higher than just sending them to a page once (yours or someone else's) and many of them will become customers for life as you build your business. My best advice for you is to first look for a new job, where you will be more happy! Then I would start bum marketing. Seach for the bum marketing method in google. Work hard on that and don't quit your new job untill you are making at least 80 a day. |

| Active Warrior | Excellent point. I wonder how many small time online earners really pay taxes on what they earn? My neighbor sells on ebay and does not pay taxes and she collects disability. The rest of us pay for her disability check and her ebay earnings that she is not taxed on.
