Newbie Question - Can you put anchor text in your bio box on ezinearticles?

I was watching a Paul Proffitt video, and he was saying that you should always use anchor text on your bio box reflecting your keywords, rather than just put a url link, but when i look at ezinearticles...i see that nobody (including him) is doing that. Is that what this means..."We do not accept links that use HTML to add style attributes to the link, URL, or text link description."

I seem to recall it used to allow you to write things like:

ClicK HERE To Start Making A Whole Bunch of Money!

... but now it's more restrictive and you have to create a
    tag like:

Loren Woirhaye is a self-proclaimed expert at How To
Start Making A Whole Bunch of Money and if you want to
Make A Whole Bunch of Money you should go read his
website and buy anything he tells you to buy at
    <a href="http://zerodollarmarketer.com">www.zerodollarmarketer.com </a>

... I think they implemented this to prevent abuse of the
sort where the whole bottom half of the article is clickable.

    I could be wrong. I don't submit a lot of articles - I just
noticed that old shenanigans like I described don't seem to
    get approved.

You can do anchor text, but if you use it too many times they will get you with the "excessive use of anchor text" thing and tell you to edit before they will publish. I usually only do one anchor text in the bio or none at all.

    Hi,

I usually include two clickable anchor words in my bio-box and have no problems with it using the <a href="http//www.website.com">keyword</a> html. Now and again I will put the actual url for promotional purposes.

What they mean is that you can't use HTML tags to glam up your links with color, bold, or anything freaky looking. Google likes anchor text related to the search term you are targeting anyway. I'd always anchor the text to what I think people would be searching for.

As I recall, they have limited your anchor text to 3 or 4 words or less, in the bio box. But yes, you can use anchor text.

To answer your question, yes, you can do anchor text in the Resource Box. I have personally gotten best results using (1) anchor text followed by (1) actual url in my resource box. I've never had an article rejected doing it this way.

    Hi

It's a good idea to use both. As you can have 2 links in your bio use 1 as anchor text and the other as full URL. That way, if publishers use your article but anchor text doesn't show in the format they are sending their newsletters in the full URL still shows up.

In a word: yes. But you just can't over do it. I think they clamped down on it as loads of publishers were obviously stuffing their bio box with an insane amount of links to the point it was rediculous.

Thanks Everybody, I didn't know what to think when the guy told me to use anchor text, and then i looked at his articles on Ezinearticles and...no anchor text, so i looked at the articles from the gurus at WarriorForum...no anchor text there either, so i figured i better ask.

Yeah, anchor text is indeed allowed...or at least it was when I was still doing EzineArticles work (been a couple months since I last did anything with them). You have to use the bracketed HTML tags, but it's certainly usable and IMO pretty highly advised to get the most out of your articles.

What I usually did in my bio boxes was to have two links spread throughout the bio box...one using anchor text (generally a couple of words related to the main keyword the article's shooting at) and the other a straight link to the website. If written in an organic fashion, it comes off smoothly and casts a pretty wide net for clickers.
