Could this possibly be a good niche?

I was thinking about Overclocking your cpu, could that be a good profitable niche? or a waste of time.

To determine whether it's a good profitable niche or not you need to do some research work. Study the niche and you will get the answer.

Whatever you have in mind as a niche you should try to do the necessary research to be really sure it can sell.

Your intention may be good, your niche too may be salable, but if the proper research is not done you may eventually run into trouble as you would have wasted you valuable time on something that is not profitable.

I guess my question now is, what research should I carry out on the niche?

"How to Research a Profitable Niche Market" Google it.

Enter "overclocking" into Google's search box in the discussion section. You'll then find the forums talking about this topic. Just go and see whether they have problems regarding overclocking or not. If so, then provide your service or product for a fee. Just make sure that there are so many people talking about that topic.

Also you can research the relevant blogs.

      Good luck!

There are also many forums that cover this - I've added a load to FindAForum.

Seems a popular niche, and certainly more popular than I thought it would be in this day and age. I thought people only overclocked in the old days (I once got my Pentium 75 up to 133!)

I think to determine whether it's profitable niche or not, you should research the competition. I don't think computer geeks in this market could find an opportunity like this without exploiting it.

Might be a hard niche to crack into because you're dealing with tech whizzes you're likely to get your ass handed to you by someone else who actually knows what the hell they are doing.

You should go more broad, like how to build your own PC... or go where the money is and sell to the Baby Boomers, maybe a product on how to use Mobile Devices, or guides on how to stay on top of technology.

Some baby boomers seem to have a fear of falling behind with technology so you could publish a tech newsletter aimed at helping them simplify and make sense of modern tech.

This is why it's important to find niches about stuff you can compete and can become an authority at.

Sure thing ---- OR you partner with an existing expert in that niche and BAMMO you have total authority because of the recognized expert you're working with.

I don't think that a partner can agree if you don't give him a real value. If you have an established website or great product, etc.
