With the ability of anyone anywhere to be on your list, times would be different around the world no matter what time you pick.

I have people on my lists from many different parts of the world, so I just picked a time and told everybody that's when the email was coming out. I send one each day.

That proved to work the best for me.

Hi, I think it would depend on your list and the different timezones of the people on your list. I generally get better rates in the morning 8.am - 9.am and later the afternoon between 4pm - 6pm.

    Hope that helps!

Where do your subscribers live? Mine live all over the world. I don't even know where many of them live (all the ones who use gmail, hotmail, and yahoo and so on for email addresses - you can analyze their opt-in IP numbers if you really want to, I suppose, but who wants to?).

So ... this planet's divided up into 24-time zones, and even just "the English-speaking world" covers parts of most of them.

What matters, with emailing your subscribers, isn't (and certainly shouldn't be!) what time of day you do it. It's how good a continuity-process you have, how you've set and fulfil their expectations, and how much they expect, await and pay attention to your emails because you're the person they trust.

I like mornings, afternoons, and early evenings local time. Maybe 10-11 local time in the morning, after coffee, afternoon after lunch, and evening after folks get home. I like for folks to receive emails when they are most likely to have the time to read them, not just open them and close them fast on their mobile phone.

I have people from all over the world on lists as well, but I tend to see the highest open rates when I send around 8AM Pacific Time and around 2PM Pacific Time.

Concentrate on your heading; ultimately, that is why a person would open it. It doesn't make a difference what time you send it. When a person checks their email, well, that is why they are checking it. To see if anything bears opening. They do not care what time it was sent. Think about your own habits. Do you really care what time an email was sent or do you evaluate the heading to see if there is any merit to opening it?

^^that I look at email various times a day. So I scan the subject lines to see if it's something I even want to open. I have emails coming in all times of the day.

I have 2 lists. One local and one international.

I usually send my emails at about 9am for the local time.

For international, still testing the best time to send though.

if you are marketing through emails , let me say that there is no time frame for email marketing strategy. because your message will remain in inbox which can be checked at any time.

I just let my autoresponder do its job. So i mail out every 3-4 days... so the days are random on my end. Good results too.

There is no definite best time, but studies have shown that the most opens and clicks for email overall occur around 8am-9am EST and 3pm-4pm EST. So sending in or around those times (for example 9.30am EST or 2.30pm EST) will yield decent results. At 9am EST, it is 6am in California + nearby states and 8am in Texas + nearby states (two of the most populous states in the US, which is the main market for most online markets of course), so it will reach many inboxes at the time when people check their emails. Email sent in the afternoon tend to receive a higher click-through rate as a percentage of the opens (opens tend to be similar at the timings above), as people have more time to view their email more thoroughly. It must also be said that emails at night are also good for sales as people will have more time to peruse offers. The niche you are in must also be considered.

There are two ways to approach when deciding what time to mail if you mail regularly or daily - you can mail at the same time every day or you can vary your mailing times. For the first method, obviously, you will get your subscribers expecting your email at the same time every day, and that can be a good thing. It also works if you have a daily newsletter, like how digital newspapers do it, by sending at the same time daily. Or you can vary your mailing times every day. There are advantages to the second method.

Why? Almost a quarter (around 25%) of all your opens and clicks for any email broadcast will occur within the first hour of your email going out, no matter what time the email is sent. And almost a third (around 35%) of the clicks will already be registered by the second hour. Email marketing companies have done studies on this. My own stats have shown similar. So by mailing at a different time every day (perhaps varying it at a 2-3 hours difference), you will reach different people within the first few hours of the email going out. Why? Because many people (not all) check their emails at set times every day. It's like habits - we do the same things at the same time every day. Many of us wake up at the same time (although that's less so for Internet marketers), eat our meals at the same time, pick up our spouses at the same time from work every day etc. So by mailing at different times, you will reach different people as many people have their own time for checking email (or their own time for concentrating on email every day, if they're on mobile or logged in all day). So you will receive a boost in opens and clicks by targeting that crucial opening 2-3 hours of an email being sent out. When they check their email, boom, your email is right on top and will experience a boost in open/click rates. So where once your email may have been skimmed over by your medium to low responsive subscribers (your highly responsive subscribers will check your emails at any time), now they will pay more attention to your email if it is at the top of the inbox when they log in.

When sending at different times, you will also of course reach people in different time zones at different times. You can also use a feature in certain autoresponders that allows you to send at 8am in the subscriber's time zone. But obviously this will impact the instantaneity of your campaign, and results will come in over time. And as mentioned, it is best to send at different times daily unless you want to create a sense of expectation of the email arriving at the same time. However, most people have their own time for checking email so it may not matter if it is sent at 9am EST or 11am EST daily, unless it is a daily newsletter/newspaper/similar email activity that demands order in the sending time. Sending at the recommended best times though, on most days, will yield decent results.

Mobile email is another consideration, considering almost half of all emails are opened on mobile in 2013. If subscribers have set push notifications for their email, they will receive a notification every time you mail. But this is less likely for subscribers for email newsletters or any email that are not personal email (and Gmail's Promotions Tab has made it easier for people to move emails there and ignore them). They don't want to be receiving notifications every few minutes on their mobile. It simply shows how customized the email experience is now. But still, we all have our habits and will be more "receptive" to receiving emails at certain times, so variety in sending times has its advantages. There are pros and cons to different approaches.

Personally, I have a roughly set time for sending email (based on the recommended times in the first paragraph) but I will vary it on certain days every so often to reach people who might skim and miss email.

Usually it would be morning 8-9 AM and afternoon 12-2 PM depending on their timezone. If you could figure out what their timezone is then you could just set it up like that if you like.

The times suggested in the replies are worth trying out for your list to see what happens, but the only way you will know for your list is by testing. By trying different times and days you will find out the best time for your list.

For a mailing to business recipients, sending midday from 11 AM thru 3 PM is b
est. Sending a message earlier in the day can result in a higher risk of the message getting lost in the rush to prepare for morning meetings. Sending it too late in the day and it may end up quickly deleted before the recipient leaves for their commute ho

The time they subscribed to your list is the best time for them, so your followup series will be sent to them at that time in the day. (Mailchimp doesn't support this, can you can only set specific sending time.)
