Building an Email List Using Guest Blogging

Warriors,

We all know that there's one topic that will never get old in the IM World. Yep, you guessed it right - email list building.

Now, a lot of online marketers focus on building their list using a squeeze page, giving away a freebie such as ebook or a video or something valuable. There's no doubt that this method works, and it will continue to work as long as you're offering something of real value.

However, driving targeted traffic to the squeeze page is an issue for many. Especially for newbie marketers who don't have the money to buy and drive traffic to their brand spankin' new squeeze page.

So what do you do? How do you build an email list the smart way?

The answer is: guest blogging.

Before you start assuming, no I'm not talking about writing a bunch of guest posts for popular blogs and waiting for the traffic to trickle in from your author byline. I'm talking about building and leveraging relationships with other bloggers and have them build an email list for you.

Over the years I've realized that the money does not lie in the list, but rather in the relationship you have with the list. The stronger your relationship, the better the conversion rates you see on each mailing you do.

Why? Because when people know you well, they trust you. They respond to you. They buy from you.

Similarly, when you build a relationship with other popular bloggers by writing quality guest posts for them consistently, they get to know you. They get to trust you. And once you have this connection with them, you can use it for your advantage.

For example, you could write a high quality PDF guide/report/ebook and ask your blogger friend to promote it for you. They will happily do it for you without asking anything in return because you're not some average Joe to them.

You've given them something valuable first (quality content for their blog) before asking something in return.

Remember, real success in the IM world is ALL about building strong relationships and leveraging them the right way. Period.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this

Best Regards,
Mustafa

Good idea but the problem is writing quality content for most of us. Most of us are marketers, not writers. Unless we get ghost writers (which may cost a lot), this could be an obstacle.

This method works very well in the Internet marketing niche because just about everyone wants to make more money. This means if you dangle a freebie in front of them that looks worthwhile, they will opt in. The biggest challenge is to keep them interested. That's where the real work comes in!

    This all sounds great.

    Have you actually done it?

How big of a list has resulted from it?

  • Sounds like a great way to build your list with people who are already interested in your niche as you're posting on a blog related to your niche.

One or two question though, where do you find blogs to do guest posts on and how many guest posts do you usually write before asking the blog owner to post about your free eBook(etc)?
