and then asks for a refund!

Some people are so blatantly thieves it's not even funny.

Jerks...

I'm not going to agree here.

Thief? Maybe, but if he really is a thief he would never had become a customer of yours in any case, so no harm done.

You don't need him to succeed.

Then again, he may well be genuine.

I recently bought an offline intenet marketing course costing over £500. This too had many hours of video - but I quickly realised just by scanning the contents, that there was nothing new to me there - despite the salesletter hype. I asked for, and received, a refund. I certainly didn't gain anything and the seller didn't lose anything.

Does that make me a thief?

Good point. Maybe he is already an expert in the niche I am selling into. Of course, if he is an expert... why would he buy the material?

Refunds are part of business. if you don't like it - don't offer them (but be prepared to lose many more potential customers).

99% of customers are honest. You'll always get the freebie seekers - but they would have never have been your customers anyway.

Look at it another way. You've refunded the guy. He's geniune (not a thief). He is really appreciative about how you handled the refund - heck you're a guy to trust!

He may become a lifetime customer.

I have looked at courses in the past and didn't have to go through the entire thing to decide I didn't want it.

This sums it up. If a product is crap you don't need to go through it all to know it's crap.

I'm not saying your product is crap, but stealing isn't the only reason why you'd get a refund request.

Yeah I agree that most customers, by far, are honest. The freebie seekers are the kinds of people who will look for pirated versions of your product if they can't get a refund. It's not a common thing if your product is good.

You should e-mail them asking how you can help them use the product effectively if they are having trouble, and offer them a different product instead of a refund.

I've had only 5 refunds in a year and a half out of over 600 sales. The other 4 were from "seasoned citizens" who couldn't figure out how to get into the content.

        reads 200+ hours of material
Just curious - how do you decide what is 200+ "hours" of reading material? I read a book night before last from start to finish in 6 hours - it was almost 400 pages long in standard hardback novel print font. It was a good read so I kept going till the end. 10 hrs of video can also be deceiving. Don't know about others but I often fast forward through parts of videos.

People read at different rates - and there's no guarantee that a purchaser will go through the entire package before requesting a refund.

You have a very low refund rate - and that's great. You can't please everyone nor should you worry about a single refund request.
