Hello Warriors
I am still getting emails under his name promoting his products. How is this possible?

Automation. I imagine someone in his family has access to his business account, so the money is most likely going to his family/wife/whoever.

Most likely. This question's perhaps going to sound terribly unfriendly and critical, in the circumstances , but shouldn't they really change the sender's information to read "Family of the late Jim Straw", or something?

Well, this is the first I've heard this news, so no telling how new or old it is. It wouldn't be the first thing on a family's mind in any case.

        Condolences to Jim's family.

Good point! Also, I always wondered that if the handling of taking over online business affairs is not clearly spelled out prior to death in a will or other document, does it become a probate issue?

I totally agree ! Plus, I am wondering how relevant or effective these info products will be. Do you agree? Seems sort of deceptive to me.

Good God. A marketing legend has died. Spare us the post mortem product reviews and slurs on his integrity.

          If you died today . . .

Would your family know about your Internet accounts?

Would they know where or how to change all the personal information so that it wouldn't be "deceptive?"

Steve, I respectfully think you misunderstand the point of the question. All I am basically asking is; do you think those emails that I am getting is from his estate or from someone with bad intentions. No slur intended.

I think it is very possible he could have had emails way into the future loaded into his auto responder. Never really thought about teaching your family how to run the business after death. Especially if they don't know the first thing about marketing.

Also number of celebrity Twitter accounts (for example) carry on in the name of the 'celebrity' after their passing. (last time I looked Michael Winner was one - carried on by his partner).

I echo the sentiments of condolence for Jim's family.

Somebody he worked with has probably taken control. Straw never went mainstream, but there's still probably a couple bucks left to be made after death.

    Condolences to Jim's family.

Back in the mid 2000's my friend Corey Rudl, a highly esteemed Internet marketing coach, and owner of "IMC passed away suddenly one weekend in a sporting accident.

When that happened, there was a set agenda that immediately went into play - one he had setup ahead of time that laid out what happens in the unfortunate event of his passing.

One part of that plan was set in motion BEFORE HE PASSED and that was the process of moving the "brand" of his products from his NAME to his corporate name, IMC.

As a consultant, there is always going to be SOME value attached to your name but it's important to create a corporate brand as well.

That makes it possible for the business to carry on without you in the event one of two inevitable events happen...

    1- You SELL
    2- You pass away

This is a good example illustrating the importance of this.

So after reading this thread, I didn't think it was that big of a deal that emails were still being sent after his passing - but I assumed it was weeks or a couple months ago. It's been almost a year; http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...12-3-12-a.html
Now it seems a little unsettling that almost a year later, someone is still sending out emails, building products etc in his name. Jim's BRAND does not have to die with Jim, but I think it should at least be addressed somehow. I mean, how would you feel, if you opted in to someone's list, and found out they have been dead for months? And you're getting emails from him...

      Exactly what i was thinking...
People lambasting the OP for being insensitive, the guy has been dead almost one year. If these emails are still going out a year later somethings not right....

I have Facebook posts queued up for a good two years via Hootsuite just to screw with people in the event of my death. A friend with my password will ensure that at some point, a post which reads "Woah, they have Facebook up here?" will be made.

At least make it 'Jim Straw Inc' or something along those lines.

Zig Ziglar isn't still sending emails, even though his company likely is.

My heart goes out to Jim's family, this is the first I am hearing of this. But I think he may have had a business partner or he could have been training his family on how to take over the business.

    Praying for his family.

Jim's sons took over his business after his passing. They were very close and didn't want to let his products die out after his passing because they are "evergreen" business products that primarily deal with making money offline.

Jim and I co-wrote Online Mentor Magazine (which I still write for) up to his passing. Afterwards, I contacted his sons to see what would become of the products and the affiliate program. Jim's sons worked side by side with him from the approximate at of 8 until they become adults. They know the materials inside the courses inside out because they lived them firsthand.

Throughout the years, Jim and I exchanged all of our materials (I've been selling information online and offline since 1998). I can tell you firsthand that his materials are timeless.

His personal mentoring, however, is the one thing that's missing from the current equation. Jim's death came as a real shock to all of us. He was in what appeared to be good heath. But then again, he really never fully recovered from the loss of his wife several years ago. I believe that, and this is just my personal opinion, contributed to his premature passing.

(As a side note, Jim's passing really hit his sons hard. When they started sending emails out for his products again, I thought similar things such as - why not put their name in the email? I think they were caught in a place where they're facing the fact that they have "big shoes" to fill along with not wanting their father's material/legacy to vanish. It's a tough place to be in... so I never contacted them about it. They're new to the online side of things so it's a steep learning curve if you've never been here before.)
