Varying price of Membership Site subscriptions. What is the higher range you heard of?

Hi, this is a question for those who are either making, own, or use membership sites.

The thinking behind the pricing for the sites can do as:

a) charge a small amount, say $47, or even $19 per month, and try to get tons of people, say thousands.

b) charge a high amount, say $997 or $1597 per month, and cater to only the small handful of people who want your stuff.

I'm curious to hear some actual real world examples of the prices people have been asking and for what.

I know this question doesn't really show anything, as it's the content and marketing of the content that convinces people to buy into a program, regardless of price, but I'm interested to see what has been done, tested before.

I think my membership site can warrant a high price structure, perhaps 3 tier at $97, $397$, $997 a month, but I don't want to price myself out of the market.

I don't want to go too low, as I get $2000+ for my weekend self improvement courses which I'm going to be putting online into these sites.

Perhaps I'll do a large initiation/first month fee and a smaller monthly fee as an option.

Interested in hearing the examples you have seen. Ex. I read on Yaro Starak's book that Rich Schefren was charging $397 for his membership site. Does anyone know the link to this site?

I wonder if charging $10 a month is actually profitable as well. I mean you gotta get thousands of subscribers just to make it work.

What if the membership site is just for one city?
