How much would you donate?

How much would you donate if a tool was free, asked you to donate, and you found (guessed) that it increased your business by about $100/month?

Wow, what tool is that?! Seriously, I'd give the first month's added revenue.

I used to do exactly what you are proposing when phpLD was free. I got some donations, but eventually I had to go to a paid version in order to cover expense and development costs. A lot of your success on donations will be related to the quality and popularity of the too.

Are you the creator of the phplinkdirectory? Or do you mean you simply just helped out?

      Anyways, interesting...

Yes... I'm actually surprised (so far by the poll results), that even if the tool increased their revenue by $100/month, they wouldn't donate ...... interesting.

If the tool actually worked as promised I would give back the fair value of it to its maker, and also actively promote it to other and suggest they do the same. I believe good service and products deserve that their provider be compensated.

Yes, that's me, but I can hardly say I did it alone. You'll find some people will donate because you helped them, and often when you communicate directly with them, it helps more. For example, maybe they needed some help using your tool, and you gave them some assistance. In that case, it is much easier to ask for and get a donation, but I wouldn't count on a high donation rate just because they got the tool for free.

First of all what tool is that? If it is really a nice one for me than I will think of donation other then no.I don't think it will generate my income. How is that possible?

Actually a tool that you need to probably click a couple buttons, and after about 5-10 minutes 'work' (and then maybe an hour of 'regular' work afterwards), would make you about $100+/month, probably for about a year or so...

I would have to think about it, it would depend on what it was.

Depends on the tool and how much time it saves me. I would say up to 1 months savings
