Is it good to build a list with a free product ?

Hi,

I have launched my first product yesterday and I am promoting it with AdWords. I receive a lot of clicks and I have a good CTR however, no-one has bought my product. I have a good landing page and the product is a good value one, in my opinion. It deals with social networks and it allows people to get more targeted likes or followers to Instagram or Facebook. The actual price is $14. Since I have a lot of clicks and no conversions, I was thinking about putting a part of my product for free BUT with an opt-in system... To get the product, the user has to put his email address. So I will build a list with this technique. Then, I was thinking about, for example, selling to this list, a video which explains how to set up the product in order to have more likes or followers. Do you think it's a good idea ? Or should I wait a little to see if I can get more conversions with the actual product ?

To give you an idea, for now I had 60 clicks in Google Adwords for an average click price of 0,14€ ($0.20) and a CTR of 2,81%.

Thanks for your help !
Axel

    Hi Axel,

You've only be going for one day, give it a week at least.

Freebies are a great way to build a list, however if it is part of your product then you need to ensure that it is only a small sample. Small enough to build intrigue and convert.

If I were in your shoes, I would look at the sales copy first. If your product is great and solves a problem then it is usually the text on the page which makes the difference.

    Hope this helps,

    Chris

I agree with Chirs. Just wait for a few more days before you take another step.

I think it's a much better idea than what you're doing now, but it still may not be enough.

It depends on exactly how you build the list, what your continuity-process is, what their expectations are (and how you set those), how targeted the original traffic is, and especially on how you communicate and build trust-based relationships with the subscribers through your autoresponder series emails: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6123982

You can make a free product, gather a list and then migrate buyers to fresh list, just to keep track of your buyers. This worked for me.

you have to send follow up emails. Minimum 7 follow up. You have to make them want your product.

Building a list with a free gift is a good idea. But you don't want to give away the whole farm, otherwise who will pay you, right? Your free gift must be either incomplete yet useful or is a product that complements your main paid product.

But you will need a good list management system and a sales funnel in order to convert your leads.

Thanks for your answers, they are very helpful ! I think that I will wait a few more days and I will change my strategy if it still doesn't work in the next few days. And thank you very much Alexa Smith for the link you provided me, it helps a lot too !

    Hi Axel,

Like the other warriors have mentioned, it's still early days.

In the future if your current method isn't working you could always try giving part of your product for free and then advertising the whole product as an upsell?
