I really want to get into Email marketing [complete newbie]

Sorry, I couldn't find anywhere to post this, even used the search tab to see if there were anything involving email marketing but not that much..

I want to learn how to build a list, where should I start learning? I want to learn from the beginning as I am a complete newbie. Are there any mentors out there that will be willing to teach me how to build a list for a good price? I'm a very fast learner once guided into the right path, I'm a very motivated person and I am willing to learn. I can get very creative ideas as long as I know what I'm doing and how I could implement it.

I understand that building a list will take time, but I'm going for the long term goal! I'm also a visual learner, I purchased a few WSO here and they were all powerpoint slides with nothing with hands-on, I've gotta learn by seeing examples, how it works, not just talking about how to do it. I'm the type of guy who wants to see everything in full detail.

If anyone can guide me to the right direction, I won't let you down! Thanks.

There's an enormous amount, but "list-building" and "listbuilding" would probably be the two search terms to unearth it, here.

Here are six threads which might orientate you for the key concepts, anyway (even though they're light on precise technical, practical details - you need "key concepts" before the "action" anyway - most people's mistakes with list-building aren't about taking action: they're about misunderstanding the key points!) ...

What are the essential things to know about list building?

Hey nobody baby, you are in the right place. There are tons of answers here, you just have to get yourself together first. What do you offer, what are your goals, financial and team wise meaning how big do you want to grow. A list is merely a means to get where your Definite Purpose is leading you.... a means to an end. Building a list means building trust, and of course, in the beginning, it could mean buying appropriate leads. But having a product for people to opt-into and giving them value for what they are giving you - their email address - is where it starts. You don't get something for nothing. Find out what people need, place yourself in their arena like in social media locations, and present yourself first as someone they can trust, then provide answers to their problems. So first you have to have yourself ready with a Definite Purpose that includes an action plan so you can measure your success and progress towards it! Getting leads is important, converting leads is more important. Glad to help you out should you want to chat more. Lots of locations for training, I think that the company I am with is one of the best.

You often need some sort of content distribution - a blog, products to sell, some way of getting content, that your viewers think is valuable enough to want more of, or to want to be updated about by email.

You supply your traffic with this content - through your website or perhaps through selling WSOs on the Warrior forum, and those that like the content will join your list. If you email them good stuff they will stay on the list and buy from you when you try to sell them more content.

    It is that simple!

    - As a rule though, it is best to get quality list subscribers over quantity. Build up trust and rapport with your list, give them a lot of free, great content, and then when you do occasionally offer them something to buy, much more of them will do so. This turns out to be more profitable in the long run, but is something that impatient marketers struggle with!

Having realized I needed to refocus and regroup my list building activities I recently purchased a course on this very topic from Liz Tomey called First List Profits however having just checked the post launch price, $97, although I have learned loads from her, I am not sure I would have paid that price for it.

I would recommend focusing on one step at at time.

1: Find/build a desired offer (PLR, your own creation etc...)
2: Create a landing page and funnel to deliver your offer
3: Learn how to get people to visit your landing page

Forget all about steps 2 and 3 until you have an offer you think will be a generous one to exchange for someones email address.

    Hey,
To effectively use email marketing, you need to have a few foundations in place, you need to have your auto responder setup, you need to have an offer to promote(the reason for mailing) you need a domain name, hosting. Is right that you are looking more long term than short term. As far as mentor are concerned find someone that you resonate with, because if you dont chances are you will become annoyed and your enthusiam may turn to bitterness and despair. if you are still struggling in a few days drop me a PM might be able to help you.

Thanks for all the replies, I really appreciate it. Right now I am looking into what kind of niche I'd like to go on. What I wanna know is where can I find offers that relate to my niche? What website should I use?
