Whos got the Formula for a High Converting Forum signature???

I have been in more than one forum in my time and find them to be a great place to get targeted traffic.

Over the past month I have tried multiple signature lines in multiple forums.

I am finding that the normal things I would do to catch the readers attention do not seem to produce the results I am looking for.

I would love to hear from you guys if you have any good techniques or resources for building high converting signature lines.

I know that banners or pictures work better than plain text but in most of the forums I am in you can only use text.

Oh by the way has anyone tried having a call to action at the bottom of their posts?

Something Like: Check Out my signature for high performing marketing solutions.

Have you realized yet that how your signature converts isn't very much about the signature itself, but is more to do with who you are, what you say in the forum, and how the members react to you?

Sounds to me like a very good way to piss people off, cause resentment and hostility and eventually get banned from forums for being an overt spammer. (You wouldn't last an hour in my forum, if you did that). I don't even do that on my own marketing sites, because I don't want to alienate my visitors/readers/subscribers.

Your sig is much like an email subject. It should be provocative. It should make people want to know more. It should make people sooooo curious that they just have to check it out.

I read your sig message and wonder. First I wonder where you got the 99% thing. Then I wonder who you think the topic of failure appeals to. Although many people realize they ain't cutting it on an unconscious level many of them will absolutely refuse to believe it in realtime. Not being an expert, I'd say your sig is probably working against you. You continue that same theme in the copy the link points to.

Fear is a powerful motivator. Fear of failure is something that truly moves people to action. But it has to be presented in the proper context. I'm guessing you should consider changing your approach.

Really? You need to be a registered member to read your blog? That might be something worth considering changing. In many ways, the days of restricted access are disappearing and marketing with content, free and readily available is pretty popular.

Or at least link your signature to something of great value without requiring anyone to do anything but read it. It might be worth trying anyway to see if you can get some more results with your marketing.

I think you understand that it's not hard hitting out of meanness but because I've been around awhile and have learned much of what you're going through the hard way myself. Those lessons, by the way, are the best lessons. Good luck.

Don't get me wrong sometimes the truth hurts but without the truth all we do is lie to ourselves.

YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT THIS GUY DID TO MAKE $5000 IN 24HRS!!

What I am saying here, the classic marketing principles will apply to your signature like when you do copy or write a sales page. Curiosity etc..etc..etc...

    Hi waynemoney and All

Signature can give you good traffic but you do not work on forums to gain traffic from signature, but you set good posts and with reply and more visitors you will gain good traffic.

Traffic from signature, it's just and little secret of working online, so do not work to gain traffic from only forums signature but work more on other ways.

For me, i do not set CTA words or images because most of forums do not allow this issue.

Sound advice Thanks. It has been a week or two. I try to stay on here and share some experience. I agree that you need to give more than you get.

I understand everything everyone has said here but lets face it we wouldn't put links in our signature if we didn't want to get some traffic for our effort.

I am looking for respectable ways to utilize my signature to send some traffic to my offers.

One point I ay should have made was that I have a couple niche sites and I spend a ton of time interacting through the forums and one of the big reasons is to get forum traffic it is very targeted traffic and I don't want people to feel like I am always selling them.

THats why I am looking for some cool techniques to get this done.

The best way to do this is to contribute regularly to forum discussions with meaningful comments and advice. By doing so, members will look for your posts and your CTR will skyrocket (assuming you've got something worthwhile in your sig).

If you simply post to get your sig seen, you'll end up banned, just as you would if you pointed to your sig in your posts.

JMichaelZ mentioned this, but it's worth repeating: consider not requiring a visitor to register just to read your blog. If I come across a blog that requires registration just to read, I'll move right along to something else.

But more importantly, your blog content can be a tremendous marketing tool for you. Having quality, informative blog posts will help establish you as an authority in your field. It also builds trust - which is very important when asking for a sale, especially online.

I appreciate the advice... Im sorry it looks like my blog requires you to sign up the fact is only one area of my blog requires you to signup and it is basically a paid program that I am giving away for your signup

Don't get me wrong I want the advice since it looks this way I will see what changes I can make to insure others don't feel this way.

This site is very new and not quite completed I only made it public a day ago.

      Thanks again

    1. In over 3 years you have made only 81 posts in this forum. People can only see your signature if they are seeing your posts. Since you have such few posts and post so little, very few people are ever going to see your signature.

    2. As Alexa said above, how many people click on your signature has more to do with your reputation and the value you provide in your posts.

    3. When you create threads like this and people see your main objective to posting in this forum is to get clicks on your signature, it kind of works against you.

You have to write intelligent and helpful posts in a forum if you want to get traffic this way.

Nobody will pay attention to your existence (even if you have a great signature) if your words are empty.

    Hey there.

I can tell you what works it in a few words.

Have a compelling headline underscoring an awesome benefit in your signature and center it as if it were the opening of a sales page.

Then help people, on the forum. And don't ask them to click on your link.

If you are providing valuable insight, they'll naturally want more.

    See my current signature?

Take a look at this image from a link tracking software called Ad Trackz Gold.

Yesterday I made $110.00 Profit (partly recurring) from this very forum.

And the guy who bought, sent me an email telling me he was very impressed and excited about what he had just invested in.

He also said he never sends personal thank-you's to people after buying their stuff.

I'm not saying I walk on water. I sure as hell do not.

    I am saying. Copy me.

And you can get cool results like this, too.

    Cheers,

    Justin

Roll with the punches, find a good baseline that you can roll with in terms of leads that you collect, and market from there. The money is in your backend list, not frontend. So if you get leads from your sig, convert them to subscribers, then customers.... then just bank like crazy from sales from repeat customers.

I always think, "Don't write angry!" (A derivation of a famous line in Groundhog Day)

Although, if it is warranted, that probably would increase CTR.

  • Forum signature conversion is more about authority perception within the forum community than about the signature itself. Therefore, it's more about being an active poster giving kick ass responses than about crafting a catchy signature.

Do you think my sig is good enough or can I improve on it in some way?

The word failure is toxic. It's a repellent. Seeing it actually makes some people queasy. If you want to stay with this theme there are other ways to go.

Think of failure in terms of loss. People hate to lose out. When people lose out they've often failed. There's probably little difference between failure and losing other than the words themselves. Okay, with that in mind consider something like this:

You'll Kick Yourself If You Miss This!

How Much Money Are You Leaving On The Table?

These two headlines have been beaten to death and still get plenty of clicks and conversions. I don't know enough about your offer to suggest anything different but you do. What I do know is focusing your marketing on failure is likely to actually cause it. Good luck.

I would never bother to click on a signature link, no matter how compelling the copy, placement, or design were, if the signature was a direct contradiction to what the member is posting.

For instance: I would never click on a signature link that promised to end Internet marketing failure and to provide IM secrets if the poster is asking for the best formula to get clicks on his signature link. I would automatically be suspicious of the poster's IM experience and skill if he needs help with a signature link.

I don't mean anything personal by this. I am just trying to illustrate what has been said by others. The copy and how flashy or eye-catching the link is have no bearing on whether I would click on a link. The ONLY thing that gets me to click is the value the poster has, or has been, giving to me. I don't remember but I suspect I wasn't as discerning or careful when I first started lurking here.

On a side note: There are some great examples of very compelling signature links on this forum and they are often very different from each other. In the few other forums I peak in on now and then that are not IM related, I very rarely see anything very good at all.
