The light at the end of the tunnel
I have been a member here now for sometime but i haven't really had anything of value to give away though I have chimed in on a few threads. My reason for putting this thread up is just to say to the guys and gals who are new here that if you persevere and take action you will achieve the success that you want for yourself.
Today i want to talk about the importance of planning. Planning is important because if you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there. This is not ideally what you want, especially when you are setting up a business in Internet Marketing.
The sheer amount of information available in internet marketing can lead to the most debilitating case of information Overload. Lack of a clear plan means that you will be distracted time and time again with any and all of the latest products as they are released and consequently marketed to you. When you don't have a solid plan anything can knock you off your path.
You see this is a double edged sword because to learn you have to observe what is happening in your marketplace, this usually means that you have to subscribe to a lot of lists, but in subscribing you are opening yourself up to a lot of well crafted and designed emails written to get people to pull out their wallets and buy whatever is being sold.
AND that fact futher serves to knock you off YOUR track because you are distracted. I'm not saying you shouldn't subscribe but your goal in subscribing should be to learn HOW a marketer is promoting certain products and not WHAT they are promoting.
You might not have heard people talk about this before, or maybe you have and you just didn't give it any credence.
Why am i telling you this? Simple you see i have been where you probably are right now, struggling to make sense of all the information that is freely available, and when you make sense of it, trying to figure out who is genuinely trying to help or who is out just take your money and run away.
It was'nt until i sat down and came up with MY plan, and i started watching the HOW instead of the WHAT that i started making some real tangible progress. I persevered through several failed attempts and i can happily say that things are looking up, i am on the verge of releasing my first information product.
This is due in part to some of the help received from people who were willing to share advice willingly on this forum, but mostly due to the fact that when things got serious, i just knuckled down and worked my through it, while asking questions of course. I have found that there is NO such thing as a stupid question, the only stupid question is one not asked.
So thanks to all the peeps that openly share their information and to the new guys keep going you'll never know how close you are if you quit. So how do you get over information overload?
You will have to shift your thinking from buying singular products that gurus offer and start educating yourself, so that you can become your own guru and knowledgeable internet marketer. This is where you should direct your attention and your money.
Most people know and understand that it can cost a fortune to go to college; you'll spend years there and only then will you be able to enter gainful employment, and sometimes that is just at an apprentice level. People would not spend all that money going to college to learn if they for one second believe that the janitor cleaning their study halls claims that he has all the answer in their chosen field, even if that Janitor might look like the smartest janitor in the world.
Listen to people that have been successful and are ahead of where you are at because they've already put in the hard work, the blood, sweat and tears. Understand that you will spend some money learning to become a good internet marketer. This is okay. What you have to avoid is throwing away your money and not receiving anything of value in return for said money.
That is what worked for me, and i hope it can help you out as well.
i guess this is where i tell everyone i have a blog, among other things - www.parkerfarington.com
