Hi Craig

It really depends on the site etc., but, yes, I use them and find them a bit less intrusive than some popups - they seem to work too!

I can't think that it would do any harm to offer them - your affiliates don't have to use them after all. The more choice - the better.

Well it would be for this site http://www.plrvideoscenter.com/

With similar graphics so the ad would be attractive.

What do you think

I use them. And although smaller amount of your affiliates use the software, keep in mind that they are very effective. So a small number of installations can still have a nice long term effect if someone puts your peel ad on an active website.

And as pjCheviot said, the more options you give your affiliates the better.

Hi warriors,

I asked my designer if he did peel away ads.

This is the reply I received.

No I don't do peel away ads, but I CAN do the graphics.

SO, if you just let me know the dimension (width and height), then I can go ahead and create the graphics..

So my questions is:

How do I find out that the dimensions would be? (width and height)

Can anyone help with this?

Craig

I know this is an old thread, but for those interested in using peel-away ads, you don't need to purchase any scripts for this. Simply install the free Wordpress plugin - it's called "Page Peel", by Nemanja Avramovic.
I use it on my site and it really does wonders.

yes, I looked at it - but that one looked less attractive, it had a black flat non moving flap image, and when peeled away, it wasn't animated as nicely as the 'Page Peel' one.

Why should I avoid flash? Does it affect loading speed?

Flash isn't SEO friendly (robots can't read most of the data) and the file format is often much larger than JS.

Affiliates might like the "cloaked nature" of Flash files.. but most mobile phones won't render the Flash either.

The tutorial provided is a starting point... a decent jQuery/UI person can really spice it up by adding in a shake (similar to hellobar).

I think they are a lot better than annoying pop-ups. Do a split test to see if they work for you.

Fair enough, theantihype. I guess for me Flash will work, as I don't need that ad to be indexed; file format being larger is not a big issue, as it is a small swf file and also it sits on my Amazon CDN. Cloaked Nature is a plus. Mobile Phones, hm, I try to avoid them for the offers that I choose anyway, as my offers aren't optimized for mobile traffic.
Thanks for a great reply, theantihype! For each their own.

I use them on many sites I have. Heres the trick and you have probably heard this 100 times but here it is again. If the teaser slogan is good enough you will get a very high click through rate. It's all about pushing your customers "GREED" button.

I downloaded the free Wordpress "Page Peel" plugin however I could not get it to work on my site. Any tips to get this going?? I am using Wordpress 3.1.

Any feedback would be great... Thanks!

bgowing, maybe you have Flash disabled on your browser?
Usually without any setup even, the peel away corner shows up - after plugin activation.
Not sure if I can help without looking at your wordpress. Possible issues: conflicting with another plugin, no flash enabled, slow loading of page (this peel away corner loads last, after everything else on the page has loaded), plugin installed but not activated.

Thanks again for your suggestions. I have deactivated all other plug-ins and verified that the page peel plug-in is active however still doesn't show up on my site. How do I check to see to see if flash is enabled? Any other suggestions?

After stumbling across 'the page peel' I looked at buying one in and then..e'voila, I saw Oksanas post and found "Page Peel", by Nemanja Avramovic. Installed, activated and shiver me timbers...it is sooool, well, nice!

Also using Devon Browns Lapdance exit pop up (one may think its too much, testing will tell) and dont have any issues with exit video popup activating if people click on the page peel)

Seriously, finding out such valuable information here, that I would have otherwise missed..

Thanks guys

James

I feel the peel away ads were a bit of a fad but I still see them every once and a while. I used them myself for a short period and actually had good results but they always just seem like a distraction to me and I feel I can get visitors from point a to point b much more efficiently the old fashioned way. :/
