How Do You Promote A Member Site?

Hello Warriors,
I am trying to create a membership site and need the help of warriors on how to promote it.

How do you promote a membership site? I have some ideas but I don't think that will be enough. advise me please.

Another question is, what is the best membership site software ( best plus nice not killing price).

Lists, JV, PPC.

Think of it as a product launch with recurring income.

Er, I think the best is aMember but it's pretty expensive so I'll google some other good alternatives and get back to you.
