Thanks for the links, checked out mailchimp a while ago but I don't think they had the per subscriber options back then (just per email). Does anyone have any idea about their deliverability rates?

Getresponse (www dot getresponse dot com - sorry, I am to new to post links) also has a free version. You are limited to 5 messages in your autoresponder though but its not bad to get started. I found it a little limited so I switched to the Infinite Response script which is great and does everything I want. The interface is a little unfriendly though. I am no expert but I managed to get it installed on my site through CPanel by following the instructions on their site.
