Site value - need help

My friend runs a blog that generates income through affiliate marketing.

80% of the traffic comes from Google, it does not have any subscribers, but it's generating good income. It's purely informational site, approx 2000 visitors per day.

For the past 8 months, the average profit from this site is $23,700 (monthly).

Is it possible to sell this site for $500,000 ?

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Why should anyone reveal their website? Especially when it's a competitive niche and making a lot of money. My question was more or less theoretical.

I just don't understand why people are so scared to "reveal" their website, i mean you are advertising your website in your sig all day long? (Even though it's a parked domain :confused

        Anyway, here's my opinion:
A site that relies on Google for the majority of it's income could be a dodgy investment. Google may do any number of things which can torpedo the whole shebang....

I don't think you'd get $500,000 for it, but imagine you'd get at least half that. Some investors are cautious about anything with a heavy reliance on Google because of the aforementioned uncertainty thing. Depends, though. There's a big difference between a site that's ranking because of a solid, natural link profile and one that's based on blog comments...

It has solid, contextual & relevant links. No blog comments whatsoever. Otherwise it would have been vanished from Google long time ago.

PS. To salesguru - I don't have nothing in my signature, heck, I don't even have a "science blog" it's just a random link to blablabla.com

I kind of liked it when Fraser on TKA revealed his huge $10,000+ a month site. So many subscribers were in awe when that got revealed.

If you build something complex (like I've done) or freaking huge (like OP) then you have nothing to fear, especially from the WF.

With a theoretical question like this it's not a good idea to share the URL as some of the moderators will see this as self-promotional and the thread will get deleted.

I've been seeing a lot of threads where someone asks for feedback on their website and those either get moved or deleted because they are in the wrong discussion forum; those belong in the copywriting forum.

So in this case, it's a good idea not to share the URL because the OP is not asking for specific feedback on a specific website.
