Building an online business? Quick question...

Hey Warriors,

The one thing no-one can change is how many hours are in each day...

...24 hours to do what we want, whether its spent at work or with the family or trying to catch a few zzzzzzz before we have to get up and do it all again.

My question is simple but I want you to honest with your answers..ok

How much time do you spend daily on your computer building your online business?
__________________________________________________ __
I used to spend 5-6 hrs a day on my laptop going from 1 social media site to the next, forum after forum, going round in circles, and NOT doing what I was supposed to be doing...
I now spend 2-3 hrs per day building my list, optimizing my sqz pages and doing traffic generation tasks.

I'm not saying 5-6 hrs a day on a computer is a bad thing...but it's not good if we aren't putting those hours to good use.

I bet some of the answers might surprise you

    John,

In my humble opinion, the hours one spends on the computer in a day has little to do with that person's productivity. Many IMers are on the computer 12-16 hours a day but make little or nothing as a result.

It's not the hours you spend that are critical . . . it's the efficiency and exactness of doing the right things online to execute your business system for recurring profits that makes the difference.

At the beginning I was losing time in front of my laptop, now I got more efficient. It's all about time management.

    What Steve said!

Although to answer the original question, I probably spend about 9/10 hours a day at my laptop on average - at a guess I would say 8 of them are actually productive.

I normally have a Sunday off to spend with my daughter and try to cut my online activity/work to 2 hours max. It's important to take a break!

I spend actually my entire day. I only leave off for things like if my friend invites me to a hangout etc.

Beware though i putt my day to good use building my list and promoting AMAZON Diehard.

    Cheers,

Same here but I think it's important to try and get away from the computer sometimes to give your eyes and brain a break. I find that the longer I sit in front of the laptop working, the slower (and tireder) I get.

A break now and again can refresh you so you can be even more productive.

I think of it exactly as I would about a full day's work: 8 hours with lunch break and some exercise in between (there are advantages to working at home, and those are the ones meant to help you increase productivity and comfort and not the ones which make you lose time). I ABSOLUTELY refuse to work after the eight hours are done and on weekends. What is the point of making money from something you love if the need to do business keeps interfering with your personal life. What is more, knowing that you cannot work outside the established hours makes you more productive. There is nothing more inspiring than a deadline.

Sometimes I spend 2-3 hours, sometimes 10. It depends on my brainstorming mood in that day...

I think the whole point of starting an online business is to earn money with a more flexible schedule. You also can't force improved productivity on days when all you feel like doing is sleep or go out and enjoy yourself with your friends.

It's all about how you feel when you actually sit down to get things done, and I've found lately that the more I do what I enjoy, the easier it is to reach 100% - or even 150% in those short 2-3 hours of genuine work.
